    • Knocks three hits in loss
Witt went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 11-8 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Witt had multiple hits in five of his last six games in May, adding seven RBI despite just two extra-base hits in that span. The shortstop hit .315 through the end of April and exactly matched that mark in May, showing excellent consistency. He's added a stellar .917 OPS, nine home runs, 42 RBI, 51 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 16 doubles and six triples over 59 contests this season. Rotowire.com Today, 10:11 am

    • Ready to go Saturday
Westburg (hand) will draw the start at third base and bat seventh Saturday versus the Rays.

Advice: Westburg will make his return to the lineup after missing two games with a hand injury following a hit-by-pitch Tuesday against Boston. The 25-year-old currently owns a five-game hit streak, batting .444 with a homer, two doubles, five RBI and four runs scored over that stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 9:18 am

    • Jordan Westburg returns to O’s lineup on Saturday
Jordan Westburg (hand) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Rays.

Advice: Westburg is back at third base and batting seventh on Saturday afternoon at Oriole Park following a two-game absence due to lingering right hand soreness after being hit by a pitch earlier this week. The 25-year-old infielder has put together a breakthrough campaign so far, posting a .291/.351/.508 triple-slash line with eight homers and five steals in 209 plate appearances over 51 games. • Walks it off in 14th
Schneider went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 25-year-old was having a tough night, striking out three times in his first five trips to the plate -- including in the 10th inning with the potential winning run at third base and one out -- but Schneider redeemed himself when he got hold of a 98.1 mph fastball from Kyle Nicolas in the 14th inning and launched it over the right-field fence. Schneider has scored a run in five straight games, taking advantage of his placement at the top of the order, but he's also been a consistent run producer of late, recording at least one RBI in seven of the last nine games. On the season, Schneider is slashing .245/.354/.470 with seven homers, three steals, 25 runs and 29 RBI in 49 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 5:33 am

    • Pete Alonso returns to lineup Friday vs. D-backs
Pete Alonso went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Friday against the Diamondbacks in his return to the Mets’ lineup.

Advice: Alonso was able to come off the bench and deliver a pinch-hit double during Thursday’s series opener, less than 24 hours after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right hand. The 29-year-old impending free agent was back in New York’s lineup on Friday night and should be good to go moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 4:45 am

    • Spotted in walking boot
Wacha was wearing a walking boot on his left foot following Friday's loss to the Padres, Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star reports.

Advice: Wacha took a 90-mph line drive off his left foot during the first at-bat of Friday's contest. He was able to remain in the game and pitch 5.1 innings of two-run ball while logging two strikeouts, but it's obvious his shot to the foot has bothered him. The 32-year-old right-hander said after the game that he will undergo imaging Saturday, at which point he and the Royals will have a better idea as to how severe the damage is. • Goes deep again
Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Arenado has homered in each of his last two games. The third baseman's power numbers are still way down -- he's at five homers and a .379 slugging percentage through 53 contests -- but his recent stretch could be a sign of him heating up. On the year, he's batting .257 with 26 RBI, 22 runs scored, 10 doubles and no stolen bases over 226 plate appearances. Not counting the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Arenado hasn't hit less than 26 home runs since 2014, but he needs to get going to hit that mark this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:03 pm

    • Michael Wacha in walking boot after Friday’s start
Michael Wacha was seen in a walking boot in the Royals’ clubhouse following Friday night’s start against the Padres.

Advice: Wacha was hit in the foot by a line drive by the very first batter during Friday’s start. He wound up staying in the game and giving up just two runs over 5 1/3 innings of work, but was sore after the game. The right-hander told reporters after the game that he’ll get some scans done on Saturday to see if any damage was done, but that he’s hoping for good news. Expect the Royals to provide an update on his status after Saturday’s imaging. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:49 pm

    • Zac Gallen diagnosed with Grade 1 hamstring strain
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday night that Zac Gallen was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.

Advice: That’s obviously good news, as Grade 1 is the least severe of the strains. The 28-year-old hurler dealt with a similar injury back in 2021 and wound up missing the minimum 15 days of action. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that he’ll face a similar timeline this time as well and that he’ll be able to return to the starting rotation in mid-June when he’s eligible.
