    • Blows save, earns win
      Fairbanks (2-3) earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on two hits over two innings against the Twins. He struck out one.

      Advice: Fairbanks was not needed to start the ninth due to the Rays holding a four-run lead, but a leadoff homer followed by the next two runners reaching base necessitated the call to Fairbanks. After inducing a couple of quick outs, Jose Miranda tagged him for a two-out game-tying homer that sent the game to extras. Once the Rays regained the lead in the 10th, Fairbanks stayed on to close out his own victory. The blown save was the second of the season for Fairbanks, who ran the gamut during the series with the Twins, suffering the loss on Tuesday followed by the blown save and subsequent win on Thursday.     • Jordan Walker slugs another homer at Triple-A
      Jordan Walker went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer on Thursday for Triple-A Memphis.

      Ryan McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Dodgers on Thursday.

      Advice: The home run was McMahon’s 13th of the year. It was McMahon’s third game in a row with at least two hits. Over his last eight games, he’s 13-for-33 (.393) with three home runs, nine runs scored and six RBI. McMahon is up to .274 with a .826 OPS and 40 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:33 pm

    • Pete Fairbanks (thumb) blows save, gets victory
      Pete Fairbanks (thumb) blew a save while allowing a run against the Twins on Thursday, but worked two innings to get the victory.

      Advice: Fairbanks entered the game with a couple of runners on and Tampa Bay holding a 6-3 cushion. He was able to get the first two outs, but then gave up a game-tying homer to Jose Miranda to blow the save. He was able to get the final three outs after the Rays scored in the 10th, however, so he gets the win. he right-hander missed a couple of days while dealing with a thumb injury, so the positive is he was back on the mound and does at least get a win.       Volpe went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs Wednesday in an extra-inning loss to Baltimore.

      Advice: Volpe set the table well out of the leadoff spot, reaching base four times and notching his sixth effort of at least three hits this season. The second-year shortstop came up with a clutch hit in the ninth inning, doubling to left field and later coming home to score the game-tying run on a Giancarlo Stanton single.       Polanco (hamstring) took a full game's worth of plate appearances as the designated hitter in Triple-A Tacoma's win over Las Vegas on Wednesday, going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.

      Advice: Polanco's ability to play in back-to-back games for the second time in his rehab assignment appears to bode well for his chances of imminent activation. The veteran infielder already logged seven innings on defense Tuesday, so there may be nothing left to prove for Polanco in terms of the fitness of his previously ailing hamstring.     • Corbin Carroll gets a day off on Thursday
      Corbin Carroll is not in the Diamondbacks lineup on Thursday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Carroll has turned things around a bit in June, hitting .290 over 16 games with four steals and 17 runs scored. However, the power is not coming back yet. He has zero home runs in June and has just five RBI now that he has moved back up in the lineup for the Diamondbacks. You’re certainly not mad at his stats this month, but there shouldn’t be an expectation that the power will reemerge.
