      Padres manager Mike Shildt told reporters Yu Darvish (groin) will return next week.

      Advice: No definitive date yet for Darvish to rejoin San Diego’s starting rotation, but he figures to take the ball at some point during their next series against the Nationals, most likely on Tuesday in place of rookie Adam Mazur.       Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that he's hopeful Tucker (shin) will be ready to begin baseball activities this weekend, Casey Drottar of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Tucker's recovery from a right shin contusion has come along more slowly than expected, but he seems to have made some progress in recent days. Finnegan has put together the best first half of his career with a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 31.1 innings, but if the Nats fall out of the wild-card picture, he figures to become one of the team's biggest trade chips given that he has just one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before reaching free agency. The Astros got to him for three on Wednesday, starting with three hits and a groundout to bring a run across in the third inning. A walk and two hits brought another run in to score in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, Crochet allowed one more run in on a double and a base hit in the sixth. He still generated 19 whiffs to strike out eight batters.
