      Yu Darvish tossed five shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

      Advice: Darvish has reeled off 10 consecutive scoreless frames in a pair of starts since returning from a two-week absence due to neck tightness. The 37-year-old veteran righty finished with five strikeouts, and only issued one walk, scattering three hits over five frames in his return to Wrigley Field. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 28 percent CSW, despite throwing 62 of 83 pitches for strikes. He’ll bring a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 30/11 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a challenging matchup on Sunday against the division-rival Dodgers.     • Wins with scoreless outing
      Darvish (2-1) yielded three hits and a walk over five shutout frames Monday, striking out five and earning a win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Darvish scattered baserunners throughout his outing but ultimately kept the Cubs quiet for five innings. He was 0-1 with a 4.18 ERA before a brief stint on the injured list. Since returning, he's fired 10 shutout frames and dropped that number to 2.94 across seven starts. Darvish matched his season best with 15 swinging strikes, eight of which came via the slider.     • Bests Atlanta for fourth win
      Paxton (4-0) earned the win over Atlanta on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 6.2 innings.

      Advice: The only real damage against Paxton came from a solo home run to Marcell Ozuna in the seventh. Paxton put together his most efficient outing of the year, needing only 84 pitches to get 20 outs, as his two walks were his fewest in a start since April 8. Paxton's strikeout numbers remain significantly lower compared to his career numbers, but he's still finding ways to grind out results.     • James Paxton stifles Braves in win on Sunday
      James Paxton allowed one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Braves on Sunday.

      Advice: Paxton struck out three and walked two on the day with the only damage allowed being a solo home run to Marcell Ozuna in the seventh inning. He had just a 15 percent whiff rate and 17 percent CSW, so it certainly wasn’t a dominant performance, but he pounded the zone and kept the Braves off-balance.       Stone did not factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Stone held up well against a tough Atlanta lineup, generating 14 whiffs and five punchouts. His only blemish on the evening was a 449-foot solo shot by Austin Riley in the first inning. Stone has made four straight starts in which he's allowed two or fewer runs, tossing a 2.35 ERA in 23 innings over that span.     • Gavin Stone limits Atlanta to one run over six
      Gavin Stone didn’t factor into the decision against Atlanta on Friday despite allowing just one run over six innings.

      Advice: Stone was excellent, but the Dodgers blew a late lead to prevent him from picking up the win. The 25-year-old threw 58-of-86 pitches for strikes while fanning five and issuing just one walk. Stone isn’t missing bats at an elite level, but it’s tough to argue with the results thus far.       Nola did not factor into the decision Friday against the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Both of the Giants' runs came in the second inning on a Thairo Estrada double, though the damage certainly could've been a lot worse -- Nola needed 46 pitches to get through the frame, issuing four walks. The right-hander was ultimately pulled after throwing 89 pitches. Nola, who'd gone eight innings in each of his previous two starts, is 4-1 on the season with a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across seven outings (43.1 innings).     • Aaron Nola pulled after four versus Giants
      Aaron Nola was lifted after allowing two runs and walking four in four innings Friday against the Giants.

      Advice: A really odd start for Nola, who pretty much always lasts five innings unless he’s truly bad or hurt. Tonight, though, he walked four for the second time this season — he did that just once between 2022 and ’23 — and the Phillies didn’t think it was worth sending him back out for the fifth at 89 pitches. They were probably right, too, as the bullpen went on to allowing one run over five innings in a 4-3 win. Nola’s velocity is down, and he’s struggled to generate as many missed swings as usual. The hope is that he’ll get stronger, and he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt, given his history. Fortunately, even though his peripherals are well off, he has a 3.32 ERA through seven starts. Rotoworld Friday, 7:46 pm

      Sale (4-1) picked up the win Wednesday in a 5-2 victory over the Mariners, allowing one run on six hits over five innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

      Advice: The veteran lefty wasn't exactly efficient, needing 100 pitches to record 15 outs, but Sale generated an eye-popping 21 swinging strikes in another dominant performance. The nine Ks were a season high, and Sale has given up three runs or less in five of his six starts to begin his Atlanta tenure. He'll take a 3.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 42:7 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up for a home start next week against the former club, the Red Sox. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:10 am
