    • Participating in drills
Suzuki (oblique) is set to do hitting and defensive drills Saturday with Cody Bellinger, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Suzuki suffered a right oblique strain April 14, and he was placed on the 10-day IL one day later. He was limited to light activity, but has since progressed to on-field batting practice. After his batting session Wednesday, Suzuki noted that he felt he was 80 percent recovered from his oblique strain and could begin a rehab assignment next week if he continues to progress, per Meghan Montemurro and LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune. • Progresses to batting practice
Suzuki (oblique) took on-field batting practice Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro and LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune report.

Advice: It's the first time he's taken BP since he suffered a right oblique strain April 14. Suzuki estimated that he's 80 percent recovered from the injury, and he could begin a rehab assignment next week if he continues trending in the right direction. A return to the Cubs' active roster by mid-May looks doable for the outfielder. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:14 am

    • Juan Soto hits first triple with Yankees in loss
Juan Soto went 2-for-4 with a triple in a loss Thursday to the Orioles.

Advice: A day after Soto stole two bases, Soto showed off his wheels again with his first triple of the season, and first as a member of the Yankees. Speed kills. Soto also singled and has forged an outstanding slash of .331/.441/.589 to begin his campaign. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:05 pm

    • Swipes two bags Wednesday
Soto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of stolen bases in Wednesday's 2-0 win against the Orioles.

Advice: Soto made the most of his two times reaching base, swiping a bag after singling in the first inning and another after walking in the sixth. He was also caught trying to steal third following his second theft. Soto tied a career-high mark with 12 stolen bases last season, and he's on pace to surpass that through 32 games this year. The star outfielder has nabbed four thefts so far while adding a .325/.439/.575 slash line, eight home runs, 25 RBI and 22 runs. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:37 am

    • Juan Soto swipes two bases as Yankees defeat O’s
Juan Soto singled, walked and stole a pair of bases as the Yankees triumphed over the Orioles on Wednesday evening in Baltimore.

Advice: Soto smacked a one-out single off of Corbin Burnes in the top half of the first inning and swiped second base before being stranded there. He then worked a leadoff walk in the sixth inning, and once again nabbed second before being thrown out trying to steal third. • Receiving rest day
Jimenez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Jimenez's absence from the lineup looks to be a matter of getting some rest for the day game after a night game. He had started in 14 consecutive games since returning from the injured list in mid-April and slashed .255/.328/.436 with three home runs and a stolen base over that span. Robbie Grossman will fill in for Jimenez on Wednesday as Chicago's designated hitter. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:57 am

    • Homers again Tuesday
Soto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Soto cut the Yankees' deficit to 4-2 in the sixth inning with a 447-foot blast of Dean Kremer, his eighth homer of the year. Soto extended his hitting streak to eight games -- he's gone 10-for-30 with three homers and a 1.099 OPS in that span. The 25-year-old outfielder has gotten off to a stellar start in New York, slashing .325/.432/.588 with 24 RBI, 22 runs scored and two steals through his first 31 games. • Not close to rehab assignment
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Suzuki (oblique) upped the intensity of his baseball activities Saturday and Sunday but is not close to beginning a rehab assignment, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Suzuki is getting a recovery day Monday before resuming baseball activities Tuesday and Wednesday. While he would appear to be progressing slowly but surely, he still has some hoops to jump through before he's ready to go out on a rehab assignment. Suzuki has missed the last two weeks of action with a right oblique strain. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:45 pm

    • Suzuki (oblique) not ready for rehab assignment
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Seiya Suzuki is not yet ready for a rehab assignment.

Advice: Counsell mentioned that Suzuki went through harder workouts Saturday and Sunday and then will resume baseball activities Tuesday and Wednesday. The manager noted that Suzuki still has “steps to clear” before he can begin that rehab assignment. It’s likely the outfielder won’t be back until near the end of May at this point.
