• Josiah Gray sharp on Tuesday in rehab outing
Josiah Gray (elbow) allowed one run over six innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Gray struck out four, didn’t hand out a free pass, and got up to around 90 pitches in his latest rehab outing. The 26-year-old righty should be ready to return to Washington’s starting rotation at some point later this week or early next week. He’s been on the shelf since early April due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Reds sending Connor Phillips to Arizona for reset
Reds RHP prospect Connor Phillips has been reassigned to the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Advice: It’s been an extremely tough start to the year for Phillips, who was a top-100 prospect as recently as last year. The 23-year-old righty, who made five starts last year for Cincinnati, has struggled to a disastrous 10.11 ERA, 2.26 WHIP and 53/50 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (14 starts) this year for Triple-A Louisville. The complete erosion of his command is startling and he’s going to head to the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League to focus on building back up from scratch. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Padres activate and option Glenn Otto to Triple-A
Padres activated RHP Glenn Otto from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Otto will remain stationed at Triple-A El Paso as extra organizational depth after wrapping up a minor league rehab assignment. The 28-year-old righty has been out since mid-May due to a right shoulder strain. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Gavin Williams (elbow) to make another rehab start
Gavin Williams (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start on Wednesday.

Advice: Williams got his pitch count up to 66 during his most recent rehab outing last Friday for Double-A Akron when he struck out four and allowed one run over five innings and now appears to be getting close to making his season debut. The 24-year-old former top pitching prospect has been on the shelf since spring training recovering from a right elbow injury. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago
  • Zac Gallen (hamstring) decision coming this week
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.

Advice: Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters they’ll make a decision on Gallen’s next step following his latest throwing session. The hope here for fantasy managers is that the 28-year-old ace will be ready to jump right back into Arizona’s starting rotation without needing a rehab assignment. There should be a decision on his status at some point later this week. Stay tuned. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

  • Brock Stewart (shoulder) draws closer to return
Brock Stewart (shoulder) is scheduled to throw two bullpen sessions this week.

Advice: Stewart has been out since early May due to shoulder tendinitis, but he appears to be creeping closer towards kicking off a rehab assignment. The 32-year-old righty should be ready to rejoin Minnesota’s high-leverage mix at some point next month. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago

  • Gregory Santos (lat) nears rehab assignment
Gregory Santos (lat) is slated to throw a live batting practice session on Friday.

Advice: Santos is expected to head out on a minor league rehab assignment shortly afterwards, assuming he gets through Friday’s session without any issues. The 24-year-old high-leverage specialist has been on the shelf since spring training due to a lat issue. Rotoworld Today, 4:12 pm
  • Roansy Contreras to start Wednesday against A’s
Roansy Contreras will start on Wednesday against the Athletics.

Advice: It’s a favorable matchup for streaming purposes, but Contreras is too risky to roll the dice on, with the notable exception of extremely deep mixed leagues or AL-only formats. The 24-year-old former prospect was acquired last month from the Pirates in a small trade and has fared reasonably well in nine relief appearances for Los Angeles. Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters they’re hoping to get at least four or five innings out of Contreras on Wednesday afternoon. Rotoworld Today, 4:10 pm

  • Faces live hitters
Kilian (shoulder) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Kilian began throwing bullpen sessions earlier this month and has now progressed to facing live hitters for the first time since landing on the injured list before Opening Day. He will likely require a lengthy rehab assignment before being reinstated from the IL, at which point it's more likely that he reports to Triple-A Iowa rather than the big-league club.
