    • To miss at least a month
Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Carter (back) will be out for at least a month, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Carter was placed on the 10-day IL on May 28 with lower back tightness. However, as Bochy notes, the injury is worse than initially thought and is being considered a "stress reaction". It seems as though Carter will have to start from square one and will probably require a handful of rehab outings before being able to return. In the meantime, Watt Langford and Ezequiel Duran should handle most of the work in left field. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

    • Evan Carter to miss one month with back injury
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Tuesday that Evan Carter will miss at least one month with a stress reaction in his back.

Advice: Not great. Bochy added that Carter isn’t dealing with a stress fracture, which would’ve required a much lengthier absence, but he’s facing a lengthier absence than originally anticipated when he hit the injured list last week with a back sprain. The 21-year-old top prospect is likely going to be on the shelf until sometime after next month’s All-Star break, even in a best-case scenario. Fantasy managers in re-draft formats can probably move on, especially in shallow mixed leagues. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Report: Padres pursuing trade for Garrett Crochet
The Athletic’s Dennis Lin and Ken Rosenthal report the Padres have shown strong interest in trade discussions for White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet.

Advice: Here we go. No word on how close a potential deal may be, but it’s worth noting the two sides struck a deal a few months ago centered around White Sox ace Dylan Cease and appear to be circling another potential blockbuster. San Diego’s starting pitching depth took a serious hit last weekend with Yu Darvish (groin) and Joe Musgrove (elbow) landing on the injured list so it wouldn’t be shocking to see Padres general manager AJ Preller getting aggressive to fill the void. Crochet is in the midst of an unexpected breakout campaign with a stellar 3.49 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 93/15 K/BB ratio across 69 2/3 innings (13 starts). The former top prospect is still only 24 years old and figures to command an astronomical asking price in trade talks. Rotoworld Today, 1:13 pm

    • CJ Abrams returns to lineup Tuesday against Mets
CJ Abrams (shoulder) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Mets.

Advice: Abrams is back at shortstop and leading off on Tuesday night at Nationals Park following a three-game absence due to shoulder soreness. The 23-year-old probably could’ve used a few days off since he’s been mired in a mini-slump at the dish recently. He’s been phenomenal overall this season with nine homers and eight steals through 53 contests. Rotoworld Today, 1:08 pm

    • Taking seat Tuesday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Garcia started the previous four games but will sit Tuesday as lefty David Peterson takes the mound for the Mets. Ildemaro Vargas will start at the keystone and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Today, 12:52 pm
    • Abreu (ankle) hopeful for minimum stint on IL
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) told reporters Tuesday that he’s hopeful he can return from the injured list after the minimum 10 days passes.

Advice: Abreu was placed on the 10-day injured list with his ankle sprain prior to Tuesday’s game. The outfielder told reporters that an MRI revealed a good deal of inflammation, but no structural damage. The Red Sox will obviously take the necessary precautions, but there’s a chance Abreu is back as the starting right fielder for the Red Sox in the middle of June. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm

    • Rejoining lineup Tuesday
Abrams (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old hasn't seen the field since Friday due to the shoulder issue but is back atop the lineup Tuesday for Washington. Abrams will look to get back on track now that he's healthy, as he went 0-for-14 with eight strikeouts in the three games preceding his absence. Rotowire.com Today, 12:32 pm

    • Sent to 10-day IL
Abreu (right ankle sprain) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to June 3, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Abreu will be sidelined for a little over a week after spraining his ankle in the Red Sox's dugout Sunday. Per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe, Abreu is hoping to return after the minimum 10 days. Bobby Dalbec drew the start in right field Tuesday, but one of Rob Refsnyder and Tyler O'Neill (knee) should fill right once O'Neill gets activated later this week. Rotowire.com Today, 12:30 pm

    • Tyler O’Neill (knee) could be activated Wednesday
Tyler O’Neill (knee) will start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: If that game goes well, Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that O’Neill could be activated off the injured list prior to Wednesday’s game against Atlanta. There’s also a chance they could wait one more day if they feel the outfielder needs a little more time, but either way, the activation is close. It’d be a significant return for the Red Sox, especially after Wilyer Abreu was placed on the injured list with his ankle sprain. Fantasy managers who roster O’Neill should be ready to bring him back up. Rotoworld Today, 12:17 pm
