Fry offers a right-handed option at multiple positions, though he's unlikely to be needed in left field as much with Steven Kwan back from a hamstring injury.       Bibee (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk over 6.1 innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Bibee dominated in six shutout frames before Washington finally pushed home a run in the seventh. He's turned in three straight quality starts, dropping his season ERA from 4.34 to 3.74 during that span. The 25-year-old righty has allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his first 12 starts.       Hoffman earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Cardinals, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Hoffman continues to impress in a late-inning role with the Phillies -- he's allowed just one earned run in his last 19.1 innings. The 31-year-old right-hander's ERA is down to 1.09 on the year with a 0.97 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB across 24.2 innings. Hoffman's up to five saves with seven holds on the campaign.       Advice: Vientos received a vote of confidence before this game with Brett Baty being sent down to the minor leagues. That gives Vientos full runway to be the Mets’ starting third baseman for the foreseeable future. He should firmly be on all fantasy radars with a .327/.377/.592 slash line in 49 at-bats this season.     • Tanner Bibee blazes past Nationals for win
      Tanner Bibee allowed one earned run across 6 ⅓ innings in a 7-1 win over the Nationals on Friday. He struck out seven and walked one.

      Advice: This was a tremendous start for Bibee mostly fueled by increased fastball velocity. His heater ticked up to 98 MPH and averaged 95.5 MPH, but tailed off in the seventh inning as the Nationals started to get around on him.       David Fry went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and a walk in a win over the Nationals on Friday.

      Advice: What else is there to say about Fry? This long ball was his third in six games and it’s getting more and more difficult to deny his blazing hot start.     • Jeff Hoffman slams door on Cardinals on Friday
      Jeff Hoffman slammed the door on the Cardinals in the ninth inning on Friday night, protecting a two-run lead to earn his fifth save of the season.

      Advice: The 31-year-old hurler came on with a two-run advantage to protect against the heart of the Cardinals’ lineup. He made it look easy, getting Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman on swinging third strikes before retiring Nolan Arenado on a fly ball to right to end it.       The Tigers announced Friday that Kerry Carpenter is dealing with a lumbar spine fracture — not just inflammation as previously announced.

      Advice: No word yet on an updated timeline, but there are rumblings that the 26-year-old slugger is going to miss at least a couple of months.       Carpenter has been diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

      Advice: Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier this week with what was called lumbar spine inflammation, but further testing appears to have revealed a more significant injury. The Tigers have not divulged a potential timetable for Carpenter's return, but his absence could be a lengthy one.
