    • Strikes out seven in no-decision
Hicks did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batsman against the Cubs. He struck out seven.

Advice: Hicks' outing was marred by a rough third inning in which he hit a batter, allowed two steals and gave up a homer and triple among three hits during the three-run frame. Otherwise, Hicks faced just two batters over the minimum during the other four innings, recording at least seven strikeouts for the fourth time this season. He'll carry a strong 3.36 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled to take place next week when the Giants travel to Atlanta for a mid-week series. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:50 pm

    • Accumulates six RBI in victory
Springer went 3-for-3 with a pair of three-run home runs in Thursday's 9-2 win against the Yankees.

Advice: Springer punished Yankees starter Carlos Rodon for two three-run homers in the first two innings to set the Blue Jays up for a big victory. The six RBI were a single-game career high for the veteran outfielder, who came into the contest with two home runs and six RBI over his previous 25 games combined. Springer batted an awful .137 through his first 21 contests of June but has gone 6-for-8 with three long balls and eight runs batted in over his past two games. • Bryan De La Cruz plates three in win over Phillies
Bryan De La Cruz smacked a game-tying three-run double on Thursday, leading the Marlins to a 7-4 victory over the Phillies.

Advice: De La Cruz walloped a bases-clearing double to left-center field off Phillies lefty reliever Matt Strahm in the seventh inning to spark Miami to a come-from-behind victory. The 27-year-old corner outfielder figures to be a popular name at the trade deadline in a few weeks as he’s in the midst of the best year of his career with a .722 OPS along with 14 homers through 80 games. • Jordan Hicks strikes out seven, allows three vs. Cubs
Jordan Hicks gave up three runs in five innings while striking out seven against the Cubs on Thursday, but he didn’t factor into the decision.

Advice: All three runs were given up in the third, as he gave up a two-run homer to Nico Hoerner and an RBI triple to Seiya Suzuki. The right-hander was strong outside of that frame while showing off his swing-and-miss stuff. In his first season with the Giants, Hicks had a 3.36 ERA, 76/33 K/BB and 1.28 WHIP across 85 1/3 innings in his 17 starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:51 pm

    • Daulton Varsho returns to lineup on Thursday
Daulton Varsho (back) returned to the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Yankees.

Advice: Varsho is back in center field and batting seventh on Thursday evening following a four-game absence due to an ongoing back issue. The hope here is that the extra time off out of an abundance of caution is enough to prevent the issue from becoming an even greater concern. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:09 pm
