    • Collects fifth hold
Faucher struck out one in 1.1 perfect innings of relief to Thursday to record his fifth hold of the season in a loss to the Mets.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander continues to give the Marlins solid innings while seeing occasional high-leverage work. Faucher has been scored upon only twice in his last 12 appearances, posting a 2.38 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB through 11.1 innings over that stretch. JT Chargois' return from the IL figures to bump him down another spot in the bullpen pecking order, but if Miami cleans house at the deadline and ships out relievers like Tanner Scott, there could be an opening for Faucher in the late-inning crew. • Drawing start Friday
Wicks is slated to start Friday's game against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Wicks worked out of the bullpen in last Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Reds following his return from the 15-day injured list, but he'll slot back into the rotation for Friday's series opener with Ben Brown (neck) landing on the IL. Given that he covered 3.1 innings and 52 pitches in his relief outing last weekend, Wicks should be fairly stretched out for starting duties Friday. Over his five starts prior to landing on the IL, Wicks went 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB across 23 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:17 am

    • Takes third loss
Grove (4-3) was charged with the loss against the Rangers on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits over one inning.

Advice: Grove failed to retire three of the first five batters he faced, which led to two runs coming home for Texas in the first inning. That would prove to be the difference as the Dodgers' offense managed to generate only one run on the night, leaving Grove with his first loss since May 10. The right-hander has now allowed at least one run and multiple hits in each of his last two appearances. He's also failed to record a strikeout in three straight outings. • Strong over seven innings
Lorenzen (4-3) picked up the win over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Lorenzen kept the Dodgers' offense at bay for most of the contest and only allowed one extra-base hit on the night, which came off the bat of Andy Pages in the seventh inning for a solo shot. However, the right-hander was able to get through seven frames for just the second time this season while logging his second win in his last three starts. It also marked the first time in Lorenzen's last eight starts that he didn't walk multiple batters. On the downside, he's now posted a 3:3 K:BB over his last two outings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:53 am
    • DL Hall (knee) begins rehab assignment
DL Hall (knee) started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Advice: Hall faced only five hitters and threw 25 pitches. He allowed two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Hall gave up two hits, walked one and struck out one. He doesn’t appear to be close to rejoining the Brewers at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 5:58 am

    • Kyle Freeland (elbow) begins rehab assignment
Kyle Freeland (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

Advice: Freeland allowed one run in three innings and threw 38 pitchers. He gave up three hits, walked none and struck out four. Freeland will need at least another start or two in the minors before returning to the Rockies’ rotation. Rotoworld Today, 5:45 am

    • Throws to batters
Mahle (elbow) threw 30-to-40 pitches in a live batting practice session Thursday, Kenndi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: This was Mahle's second live BP session. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said the right-hander showed good command and velocity. He'll take a week off before throwing more live BP, then Mahle will go on a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 5:32 am

    • Tagged with seventh loss
Canning (2-7) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk over six innings while striking out three.

Advice: Canning got himself into trouble early after allowing two of the first three batters to reach base, which Christian Walker would capitalize on with a three-run shot to left field as Arizona took the lead over the Angels. The right-hander would allow only two hits from that point on, though one of those hits was a second long ball off the bat of Walker, putting Los Angeles in a 4-0 hole. Canning had not allowed more than three runs in either of his last seven outings coming in and it marked only the third time this season in which he's surrendered multiple home runs. He has, however, managed to go at least six innings in three consecutive starts. Rotowire.com Today, 5:10 am
    • Fans eight over six frames
Pfaadt (3-5) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight.

Advice: Pfaadt allowed the leadoff man to reach base in two of his first three innings of work, but lucked out with double play balls on each occasion and managed to escape each frame unscathed. He would then surrender an RBI single to Mickey Moniak in the fourth before going on to log his seventh quality start of the campaign. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last six outings, going 2-2 over that stretch. He's also recorded at least seven strikeouts in four of his last six starts.
