    • Rehab halted
Jones (back) has had his rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque paused because of right knee soreness stemming from a slide, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A MRI came back clean for Jones, who hasn't played for Albuquerque since Friday. The outfielder was placed on the 10-day injured list April 30 with a lower-back strain and had just started his rehab assignment Wednesday. It seemed like the 26-year-old was nearing a return and was trending toward being activated after Albuquerque's game Sunday, but this latest development scuttled that timeline. • Slated to play in ACL games
Robert (hip) will begin playing in Arizona Complex League games on Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Robert has been on the shelf since April 6 due to a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain, but he now appears to be ready to test his hip in a competitive environment. The plan is for him to remain at the White Sox's complex in Arizona through the weekend before officially beginning an assignment with one of Chicago's minor-league affiliates next week. The team has not revealed how long they expect the 26-year-old outfielder to remain on assignment, but it's likely he returns to the Sox sometime in June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:45 pm

    • Returning from suspension Sunday
Blanco (suspension) will be added to Houston's active roster to start Sunday at Oakland, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Astros unsurprisingly won't waste any time reinserting Blanco into the rotation upon the completion of his 10-game ban. The right-hander threw live batting practice Monday and shouldn't face any significant limitations in his first start back. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:42 pm

    • Luis Robert Jr. (hip) ready for rehab contests
Luis Robert Jr. (hip) will play five innings on Wednesday in a Rookie-level Arizona Complex League contest.

Advice: The plan appears to be for Robert to get a couple games in this week out in Arizona before heading out on an official minor league rehab assignment next week. The 26-year-old fantasy superstar has been on the shelf since early April due to a Grade 2 hip flexor strain that was expected to keep him sidelined for at least 6-8 weeks. Barring any setbacks, he should return at some point in early June. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:30 pm

    • Willson Contreras optimistic on earlier return
Willson Contreras (fractured forearm) has already had his cast removed.

Advice: The exact date is uncertain, but Contreras has been cast-less since at least last Friday, May 17. It may have been as early as May 11. “I’m really happy with how the process is going and how well I’m recovering,” Contreras said late last week. “The way I feel, I could say, it’s not going to be (until) the All-Star break. It could be earlier than that. I’m not going to say something that is going to get above the doctors’ opinion, but if you’re asking me how I’m feeling, I’m feeling great.” The Cardinals have yet to comment on Contreras potentially beating his All-Star week return projection, but it is now definitely within the realm of possibility. • Espada: Ronel Blanco likely back Sunday vs. A’s
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Ronel Blanco will likely start on Sunday against the Athletics.

Advice: Blanco is currently serving an automatic 10-game suspension for violating the league’s illegal foreign substance rules, but he’s in line for a tasty matchup in his return against the struggling Athletics. Fantasy managers should prepare to get him back in their lineups later this week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:12 pm

    • Follow-up exam on June 5
Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) will have a follow-up exam on June 5, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: That will be the four-week mark of Encarnacion-Strand's projected 4-to-6 week timetable as he recovers from a fracture in his right wrist, so it would appear he's not going to make it back on the early side of that timeline. Encarnacion-Strand would presumably require a rehab assignment before returning. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:55 pm
    • Missing from Tuesday's lineup
Caballero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Caballero will get a day off Tuesday, giving way to Amed Rosario at shortstop. Caballero owns a .257/.315/.365 slash line across 164 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:00 pm

    • Collects win in extras
Scott (4-4) earned the win Monday against the Brewers, allowing no hits and one walk in one shutout inning. He struck out one.

Advice: Scott gathered his fourth win by shutting down Milwaukee in the top of the tenth and benefitting from a walk-off Josh Bell single in the bottom of the inning. The Marlins lefty has tossed seven consecutive scoreless outings, notching three wins, one save and one hold with a 9:5 K:BB over 7.1 innings. Despite owning an 8.1 BB/9, Scott sports a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings overall. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:17 pm
