• Kutter Crawford strikes out nine in win over Yanks
Kutter Crawford racked up nine strikeouts over six innings of three-run baseball in a victory over the Yankees on Sunday night.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander allowed just three hits and one walk on the night. He served up a solo homer to Aaron Judge in the opening inning, then kept the Yankees’ offense completely at bay until Jose Trevino crushed a solo homer in the sixth inning. They scratched out another run in the sixth as Anthony Volpe scampered home on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning. Crawford generated 16 swings and misses on 84 pitches in the ballgame — nine on his sweeper — while posting a terrific CSW of 39 percent. Now 3-6 on the season, Crawford will tote a 3.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and an 88/26 K/BB ratio (86 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Reds in Cincinnati. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:19 pm
  • Marcus Stroman gives up four runs in loss Sunday
Marcus Stroman struggled in a losing effort against the Red Sox on Sunday night, giving up four runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler also walked four batters in the ballgame while punching out three. The Red Sox scratched out two runs against him in the second inning on a two-out, two-run single by Ceddanne Rafaela, then tacked on single runs in the third and in the fifth. They also took advantage of Stroman and Jose Trevino on the basepaths, swiping six bases in their five innings. Stroman got seven swings and misses on 102 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of only 24 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.08 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 61/38 K/BB ratio (84 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Braves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:19 pm
  • Tyler Glasnow shuts down Royals, strikes out nine
Tyler Glasnow cruised against the Royals on Sunday, striking out nine over seven innings in the Dodgers’ 3-0 shutout.

Advice: Glasnow walked only one and needed just 85 pitches to get his 21 outs today. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak in which the Dodgers just couldn’t score runs for him. He’s 7-5 with a 3.00 ERA and a 125/25 K/BB in 93 innings for the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
  • Josh Fleming goes four scoreless in return
Josh Fleming, who was called up by the Pirates on Friday, pitched four scoreless innings in a start Sunday versus the Rockies.

Advice: The Pirates could have used an opener today to give Fleming a shot at a win, but they decided not to. The victory instead went to Carmen Mlodzinski, who entered with a 1-0 lead after four and worked two hitless frames. Fleming came into the day with a 5.68 ERA in one start and 16 relief appearances for the Pirates. He’s not assured additional starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:24 pm

  • Dakota Hudson gets pulled in sixth versus Pirates
Dakota Hudson yielded three runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Pirates.

Advice: It was one-run through five, but the Pirates ended up totaling five runs against Hudson and Viktor Vodnik in the sixth, denying Hudson what would have been a fourth quality start in his last five tries. He fell to 2-9 with a 4.89 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:24 pm

  • Sears gives up nine hits, four runs in loss Sunday
JP Sears allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Sears gave up nine hits, walked four and struck out one. Three of the hits allowed were home runs. Despite a 16 percent strikeout percentage, Sears has been somewhat usable in fantasy at home as he has a 3.31 ERA in six home starts. Otherwise, he’s off the fantasy radar. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Twins at home next week.

  • Gets demoted after another poor start
Atlanta is expected to option Waldrep to Triple-A Gwinnett following Sunday's 8-6 loss to the Rays, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: After he yielded seven earned runs and walked four batters in just 3.2 innings in his MLB debut last Sunday in Washington, Waldrep was given another chance to prove he belonged in Atlanta's rotation. Unfortunately for the 22-year-old righty, he was sent back to the minors after displaying shaky command and control for a second straight outing. He was once again pulled midway through the fourth inning Sunday, needing 71 pitches (42 strikes) to record 10 outs while allowing six earned runs on five hits -- including two home runs -- and four walks. The long-term outlook remains bright for Waldrep, but he'll need further seasoning in the upper levels of the minors before he gets another look in the Atlanta rotation. • Josh Fleming starting Sunday against Rockies
Josh Fleming is starting Sunday’s game against the Rockies.

Advice: Fleming was recalled from Triple-A Friday, and after going unused in the first two games, he’ll get the nod against Dakota Hudson and the Rockies. The 28-year-old has not been effective thus far in 2024 with a 5.68 ERA and 1.68 WHIP over 19 innings, and he’s not a recommended streamer for this chance. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 am

  • Drawing start Sunday
Fleming is slated to start Sunday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Fleming was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday but went unused out of the bullpen for the first two games of the Pirates' series in Colorado. He'll step into the rotation for the series finale Sunday as Pittsburgh looks to give each of their other starters an additional day of rest, but Fleming will likely head to the bullpen or return to Triple-A immediately after the start. Fleming had worked as a multi-inning reliever for Indianapolis prior to his call-up, covering at least two frames in each of his last four appearances while pitching to a 5.68 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in seven outings overall.
