• Tosses two scoreless innings Sunday
Smyly tossed two scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Cardinals. He allowed two hits and struck out two.

Advice: After a solid effort from starter Jameson Taillon across six innings, Smyly did his best to keep the Cubs in the game despite their lack of offense. The lefty has now logged five straight scoreless outings covering seven innings, and he's struck out seven during the hot steak. Smyly seems more suited for a relief role than a starting gig at this point in his career, as his fastball is up to 93.1 mph this season after sitting at 92 mph last year when he made 23 starts, and he's been more effective with the added velocity. • Too much traffic in loss
Stroman (6-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Red Sox.

Advice: In addition to allowing 11 baserunners, Stroman was also on the mound for six of the Red Sox's franchise-best nine steals in the contest. Stroman has had two bad outings and one good one through three starts in June, though Sunday marked his first loss since May 9. The right-hander has maintained a 3.08 ERA despite a 1.30 WHIP and 61:38 K:BB over 84.2 innings through 15 starts this season. He's projected for a home start versus Atlanta in his next outing. • Strikes out nine in win
Crawford (3-6) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win Sunday over the Yankees.

Advice: Crawford had given up at least four runs in five of his last six starts, but he was able to turn in a strong performance Sunday. He allowed solo home runs to Aaron Judge and Jose Trevino, but Crawford's nine strikeouts were a season high, and he snapped a four-start losing streak. The right-hander is at a 3.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 88:26 K:BB through 86.1 innings over 15 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Cincinnati. • Chased early Sunday
Estes allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two over 2.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Twins in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Advice: Both Estes and Twins starter Chris Paddack were hit hard in the early innings, and neither completed three frames. This was Estes' shortest outing of the season, and it's the first time in four starts he's given up more than three runs. The right-hander is now at a 5.97 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 30:9 K:BB through 34.2 innings over seven starts. His next outing is projected to come at home in a rematch versus the Twins. • Takes loss versus Twins
Sears (4-6) allowed four runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings to take the loss versus the Twins in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Advice: Sears had gone five starts without giving up a home run, but his good fortune ended with Carlos Correa taking him deep twice and Royce Lewis adding another homer in this start. This was the fourth time in Sears' last eight starts that he's given up four runs. He's now at a 4.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 55:28 K:BB through 82.2 innings over 15 outings this season. The southpaw is projected for a home rematch with the Twins in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
  • Blanks Royals
Glasnow (7-5) picked up the win Sunday against Kansas City, allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts across seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Glasnow was exceptional Sunday, striking out at least nine batters for a third straight start and completing his first scoreless start since April 21. He didn't allow an extra-base hit in the outing and got into the win column for the first time in seven starts. Glasnow leads MLB with 125 strikeouts across 93 innings, and his ERA dropped from 3.24 to 3.00 after Sunday's start. The 30-year-old is tentatively scheduled to face the Angels his next time out. • Struggles in nightcap
Paddack allowed five runs on five hits and a walk while failing to strike out a batter over 2.1 innings, taking a no-decision in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Athletics.

Advice: Paddack had his shortest outing of the year after twice allowing the Athletics to counter the Twins' early offense. Over his last seven outings, Paddack has allowed four or more runs four times, but he's limited opponents to two runs or less in the other three starts in that span. He's at a 5.25 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 67:15 K:BB through 73.2 innings over 14 starts this year, so inconsistency is just part of the deal for the right-hander. He's projected to make his next start in a rematch at Oakland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:49 pm
  • Chris Paddack hit hard in no-decision on Sunday
Chris Paddack was hit hard in a no-decision against the Athletics on Sunday night, surrendering five runs on five hits in only 2 1/3 innings.

Advice: Paddack also walked a batter in the ballgame and didn’t record a single strikeout. Twice the Twins staked him to early leads in this one, and both times he gave it right back the following inning. The A’s scratched out three runs against him in the second inning, then JJ Bleday and Tyler Soderstrom tagged him for solo homers to chase him from the game in the third. The 28-year-old right-hander got just two swings and misses on 46 pitches in the game, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll try to improve upon his 5.25 ERA and 1.41 WHIP when he squares off against these same Athletics in Oakland on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:50 pm
  • Joey Estes hit hard in no-decision on Sunday
Joey Estes was hit hard in a no-decision against the Twins on Sunday night, surrendering six runs on eight hits in only 2 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: It’s really a testament to the A’s offense that Estes wound up with a no-decision here instead of a loss. The 22-year-old hurler punched out two batters on the evening while allowing one base on balls. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, as Royce Lewis crushed a two-run homer in the first inning and Trevor Larnach added a three-run shot in the second. Estes got five whiffs on 65 pitches in the ballgame, posting a minuscule CSW of only 18 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces as he carries a 5.97 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 30/9 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Twins at home on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:40 pm
