      Advice: The Twins struck early with a run in the first on two base hits. Castillo went on to retire 11 of the next 12 batters he faced but then ran into more trouble in the fifth, allowing a double and two more singles, which led to another pair of runs for the Twins. He was able to work his way through the inning, but his day would end there at 77 pitches. Castillo managed to not give up any free passes for the first time since May 12, though he's also failed to complete six innings in four of his last five starts.     • Luis Castillo grabs a bat Sunday against Twins
      Luis Castillo struck out three and allowed three runs over five innings on Sunday in a no-decision against the Twins.

      Advice: What a mess. Castillo was forced to grab a bat, and struck out looking in the fourth inning, after Seattle lost the designated hitter earlier in the contest when Mitch Haniger left the game following a hit by pitch. The 31-year-old righty was simply outdueled by Twins starter Joe Ryan, who limited the Mariners to just a pair of runs into the sixth inning before the bullpen took over and pretty much shut things down completely from there on out.     • Notches eight strikeouts in win
      Peralta (6-4) picked up the win Sunday against the Cubs, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings.

      Advice: Peralta yielded a solo home run to Nico Hoerner in the opening frame, but the 28-year-old was locked in afterwards, yielding just one other hit to notch his seventh quality start of the season. The right-hander has shown an impressive ability to miss bats, registering an 11.6 K/9 that ranks in the 95th percentile. Despite the lofty strikeout totals, Peralta has been mildly disappointing this season, logging a pedestrian 3.83 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 94 innings.       Freddy Peralta allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Brewer’s 7-1 victory over the Cubs on Sunday.

      Advice: Peralta gave up two hits, walked two and struck out eight. It was his sixth win of the season and third in June. Peralta has completed at least six innings and struck out eight batters in two of his last three starts. That’s a real positive considering that before that stretch he had completed six innings in just one of his previous six starts. Peralta has a 3.83 ERA on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander has a tough matchup against the Dodgers on the road next weekend.

      Triple-A Toledo placed Lange (lat) on its full-season injured list Friday.

      Advice: The transaction confirms that the surgery Lange underwent this past week to address a right lat avulsion was indeed season-ending. Though the right-handed reliever is currently on the minor-league IL, the Tigers could recall him and place him on the major-league 60-day IL if the team needs to open up a spot on the 40-man roster at any point.       Advice: Lopez stumbled a bit over the first three frames, allowing a walk and four hits, including a solo home run off the bat of Mitch Haniger. However, the right-hander recovered nicely after the early hiccups, fanning six of the nine batters he faced over his final three innings of work as Minnesota took a 5-1 lead. Lopez induced 18 swinging strikes on the night and now has 25 strikeouts over his last 14 innings on the mound.       Rengifo went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Tigers.

      Advice: Rengifo singled in his second trip to the plate before swiping his 21st bag of the season and later coming home to score the Angels' first run of the contest. The third baseman added another single in the seventh before coming around to score for a second time, giving him his fourth consecutive multi-hit game as well as his fourth straight game with at least one run scored. Rengifo has really come alive on offense as of late, batting .325 (13-for-40) over his last 10 contests with two homers, four RBI, three stolen bases and nine runs scored.
