The Tigers might give him another opportunity soon, but there’s a good argument that Parker Meadows, who has hit .285/.378/.519 since his demotion, is more deserving at this point.       Suarez allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out one over one inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Suarez has converted his last three save chances after a blown save June 18 versus the Phillies. He's now at 20 saves on the year, and he's the fifth pitcher in the majors to reach that milestone in 2024. Of those top-tier closers, Suarez's 1.09 ERA is second only to Cleveland's Emmanuel Clase (0.70). Suarez has also maintained a 0.79 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB over 33 innings this season.       Robert Suarez recorded his 20th save after allowing an unearned run in the ninth Tuesday against the Nationals.

      Castillo (6-9) took the loss against the Rays on Tuesday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Castillo surrendered a leadoff home run to Yandy Diaz in the first inning and an RBI single to Jose Siri in the second. He responded with three scoreless frames but was pulled after walking two batters in the sixth. Both baserunners scored, resulting in the third time Castillo has yielded at least four earned runs in June.       Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Tuesday’s game that Gleyber Torres’s failure to run hard to first base in the eighth was a product of his groin issue.
