      Ryan O’Hearn went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk as the Orioles were shut out at home by the Yankees on Wednesday evening.

      Advice: As a team, the Orioles were only able to muster three singles and a pair of walks against Luis Gil and a host of Yankees’ relievers. O’Hearn was the only member of his squad to reach base twice.       Corbin Burnes logged a quality start in Wednesday’s loss to the Yankees, giving up just two runs on four hits over six strong innings of work.

      Advice: The Orioles’ ace struck out six batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him — and in the game — came on a two-out, two-run homer off the bat of Oswaldo Cabrera in the fifth inning that just barely stayed fair and creeped over the wall in right field. Burnes got 14 swings and misses on 95 pitches in the contest — seven of those on his slider — while registering an elite CSW of 34 percent. Now 3-1 on the season, he’ll carry an outstanding 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 41/9 K/BB ratio (41 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Nationals in Washington.       Zack Wheeler struck out six and yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a win over the Angels.

      Advice: Wheeler did what he does best out in Los Angeles, pounding the strike zone and limiting hard contact against an injury-depleted Angels lineup. The 33-year-old fantasy ace threw 67 of 106 pitches for strikes and allowed just five batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. A second-inning solo shot from veteran utility specialist Ehire Adrianza represented the lone tally against him over five frames. He’s allowed just one run over 18 1/3 innings in his last three starts since April 20.       Red Sox skipper Alex Cora told reporters Brayan Bello (lat) will make a minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Double-A Portland.

      Advice: There had been some hope that Bello could jump right back into the Red Sox’ rotation without requiring a tune-up on the minor league side, but he’ll toe the slab at least once in the upper minors before making his triumphant return.     • Sits against right-hander again
      Fraley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

      Advice: For the second straight day, Fraley finds himself on the bench with a right-handed pitcher (Joe Musgrove) on the hill. The Reds haven't indicated that Fraley is nursing an injury, but the outfielder has thus far struggled to bounce back since returning to the lineup after a week-long absence due to an illness. In his first three games back in action, Fraley went 0-for-11 with five strikeouts.       Scott (1-4) earned the win Tuesday over Colorado, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk in one inning. He struck out two.

      Advice: Scott allowed the free runner to score in the top of the 10th inning on a two-out Ryan McMahon double before ultimately striking out Hunter Goodman to end the frame. The Marlins would then score twice in the bottom half, completing the comeback victory and giving Scott his first win this year. The left-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in his last six appearances -- he's 4-for-5 in save chances this year with a 2.84 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 12:13 K:BB across 12.2 innings.     • Goes five innings in rehab start
      Buehler (elbow) tossed five innings in a minor-league rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out five batters.

      Advice: Buehler tossed 75 pitches in the outing, 11 fewer than he threw in his previous appearance. However, he completed five frames for the first time since beginning his rehab stint March 31. The right-hander's fastball topped out at 94.6 miles per hour, so he's not quite back to the velocity he displayed prior to his Tommy John surgery in August 2022. Nonetheless, Tuesday's start -- his sixth in the minors this season -- may have been Buehler's final step before rejoining the big-league rotation, as Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested prior to the outing that the hurler could make his next appearance with the big club, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.       Advice: Three of Baltimore's four runs off Cortes came in the fourth inning, as the 29-year-old left-hander took a second straight loss. Cortes had gone seven innings in each of his previous two outings, allowing just three runs while striking out 13 in that span.
