    • Edwin Díaz hurls two scoreless innings vs. Cubs
Edwin Díaz hurled two scoreless innings against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: It comes in a non-save situation, but fantasy managers who roster Díaz get to see their ERA drop with the scoreless frames. He also picked up a pair of strikeouts, and that improves his K/BB to 19/4 over 12 2/3 innings. There really hasn’t been much — if any — rust to shake off for Díaz after missing all of 2023. • Grabs first win
Scott (1-4) earned the win Tuesday over Colorado, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk in one inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Scott allowed the free runner to score in the top of the 10th inning on a two-out Ryan McMahon double before ultimately striking out Hunter Goodman to end the frame. The Marlins would then score twice in the bottom half, completing the comeback victory and giving Scott his first win this year. The left-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in his last six appearances -- he's 4-for-5 in save chances this year with a 2.84 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 12:13 K:BB across 12.2 innings. • Tanner Scott picks up extra-innings win
Tanner Scott allowed one run (no earned) on one hit and one walk in one inning while getting the win in a 7-6 extra-innings win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Scott got two quick outs in the top of the 10th innings but then allowed a double to Ryan McMahon which scored the ghost runner. He then issued an intentional walk before getting another strikeout to end the inning. He would pick up with win when the Marlins scored twice in the bottom of the inning. It’s never easy with Scott but at least the walk tonight was intentional. The Marlins are clearly planning to keep him as their closer, so he deserves to be on your fantasy roster, even if you want to bench him to see if he can work his command issues out. • First hiccup of 2024
Diaz (0-1) took the loss Monday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts across one inning.

Advice: Diaz spoiled Luis Severino's eight-inning gem, allowing a double to Mike Tauchman and a two-run home run to Christopher Morel in the final frame to put the Cubs ahead 3-1, where the score would remain. The loss was Diaz's first true blemish of the campaign, being a perfect 4-for-4 in save chances with no prior losses. His ERA jumped from 0.93 to 2.53 following Monday's contest and his WHIP sits at 0.94 through 10.2 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:27 pm

    • Kirby Yates picks up fifth save versus Reds
Kirby Yates turned in a scoreless ninth against the Reds for his fifth save on Sunday.

Advice: Yates gave up a single and a walk, but he was able to strike out Jeimer Candelario and get a lineout to third from Luke Maile to end the game. He still hasn’t allowed a run in 12 innings this year. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:42 pm

    • Remains spotless, grabs fifth save
Yates earned a save after he pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out a batter in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Yates was called upon to protect the team's 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning, working around a pair of baserunners to secure his fifth save of the season. The right-hander has now gone 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season while he has pitched 12 scoreless frames over his first 11 appearances in 2024. On top of the spotless ERA, Yates also owns a sparkling 0.50 WHIP with a 10.5 K/9, and he appears to be locked in as the Rangers' closer moving forward. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:43 pm

    • Picks up fourth save
Yates struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Friday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Yates struck out Jonathan India and Jeimer Candelario to begin the ninth, giving him 13 punchouts in 11 innings out of the bullpen. The 37-year-old righty still has yet to allow a run this season, and he'll likely continue receiving the bulk of save opportunities as long as that remains the case. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:19 am

    • Kirby Yates throws perfect ninth for save
Kirby Yates struck out two in a perfect ninth Friday for a save against the Reds.

Advice: It was Yates’ first appearance since his save Sunday. He threw 14 pitches tonight, so he should be available again Saturday. David Robertson could also be a threat for a save then, but Yates is the clear favorite in Texas right now. Rotoworld Friday, 11:22 pm
