David Hamilton swipes four bases to lead Red Sox
David Hamilton and the Red Sox ran all over the Yankees in Sunday night’s 9-3 victory over the Yankees, with the 26-year-old speedster nabbing four of his team’s franchise-record nine stolen bases.
Advice: The Red Sox clearly did not respect the battery of Marcus Stroman and Jose Trevino, and they pushed the envelope against them every chance that they had. Hamilton worked a leadoff walk in the third inning, swiped second base and ultimately scored on a double play ground ball off the bat of Rafael Devers. He then led off the fifth inning with a single and immediately stole second and third base before scoring on Devers’ sacrifice fly. He also added an RBI single and a run scored in the eighth inning. Hamilton finished the night 2-for-4 plus a walk and is now hitting .288/.340/.446 with four homers, 11 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 149 plate appearances on the season.
