      Advice: Young sat out Saturday after leaving Friday’s game with back spasms. The Nationals called his absence precautionary, and the fact he’s back a day later is pretty good evidence of that.       Advice: Pfaadt struggled with San Diego's lineup throughout the contest, allowing hits to three of the first four batters he faced and surrendering three runs over the first four innings - though one of those wouldn't be charged to him on account of a fielding error by Blaze Alexander. The right-hander was later relieved by Brandon Hughes in the seventh after surrendering back-to-back singles to open the frame, which led to an eight-run inning for the Padres. Despite his struggles on the night, Pfaadt still managed to log his second-consecutive quality start and has now posted a 15:0 K:BB over his last two outings.       Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Rays.

      Advice: Marte drove in the Mets' only run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the first, following a leadoff double from Brandon Nimmo to open the frame. The right fielder would add another single and a walk in the contest while also swiping his seventh bag of the season. Marte has struggled a bit at the plate as of late and is batting just .188 (3-for-16) in May. However, he's also tallied multiple hits in five of his last 11 games.       Neris allowed one run on two hits and one walk but recorded the final three outs of Saturday's game against the Brewers to earn his sixth save of the season. He struck out one batter.

      Advice: Neris put the tying run in scoring position with just one out, but he then buckled down and retired Tyler Black and Willy Adames to preserve the win for starter Jameson Taillon. With six saves in as many attempts since April 20, and with Adbert Alzolay struggling to get on track in lower-leverage situations, Neris appears to be shoring up his spot in the ninth inning under manager Craig Counsell.       Isaac Paredes went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday, lifting the Rays to a 3-1 win over the Mets.

      Advice: Paredes opened the scoring with a first-inning RBI single off Mets rookie starter Christian Scott. He reached base three times in the low-scoring affair and scored a pivotal insurance run in the eighth inning when José Caballero drew a bases-loaded free pass.     • Starling Marte has two hits, steals base in loss
      Starling Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI and also stole a base on Saturday in the Mets’ loss to the Rays.

      Advice: Marte was one of the few bright spots for the Mets in this one as they managed just six hits combined against Rays starter Zack Littell and a trio of relievers. It’s still early, but the 35-year-old veteran outfielder has looked rejuvenated this season, batting .275/.313/.408 with 16 runs scored, four homers, 15 RBI and seven steals in 129 plate appearances.       Turnbull will be available out of the Phillies' bullpen Sunday versus the Giants, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

      Advice: It could wind up being a piggyback situation with Taijuan Walker, although manager Rob Thomson didn't explicitly say that would be the case. Turnbull has earned a spot in the Phillies' rotation with a 1.67 ERA and 36:10 K:BB in 32.1 innings, but the team also wants to keep an eye on his workload since he hasn't thrown more than 56.2 innings in a season since 2019.     • Brandon Pfaadt struggles in loss to Padres
      Brandon Pfaadt struggled in a losing effort against the Padres on Saturday night, giving up five runs (three earned) on 10 hits over his six-plus innings of work.

      Advice: Pfaadt struck out four batters on the evening and didn’t issue a base on balls. The Padres scratched out a run against him in the opening inning on an RBI single by Manny Machado, then tacked on two more runs in the fourth. Pfaadt returned for the seventh inning where he allowed singles to Luis Arraez and Fernando Tatis Jr. before exiting — and both of them ultimately came around to score. The 25-year-old right-hander got 11 whiffs on 89 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 25 percent.
