• Starting rehab stint
Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Urquidy (forearm) is likely to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw live batting practice Tuesday and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Urquidy was shut down with a forearm strain in mid-March and will likely require a handful of rehab starts before making his season debut for the Astros. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • José Urquidy (forearm) ready for rehab assignment
José Urquidy (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Sugar Land over the weekend.

Advice: Urquidy has been shelved since spring training due to inflammation in his forearm, so he’s going to need at least a couple of rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Astros’ rotation. If he’s able to avoid any setbacks though, a return before the end of May could be realistic. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • MRI on shoulder returns clean
Stewart said a recent MRI on his right shoulder "looked good," and he's hopeful to resume throwing this weekend, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Stewart was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder tendinitis, and fortunately for him, the injury doesn't look to be any more significant than that. If Stewart is able to resume playing catch this weekend, he would have an outside chance at returning from the IL when first eligible May 17. Stewart recorded an 0.68 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 13.1 innings while gathering seven holds in 13 appearances prior to landing on the shelf. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

  • JP Sears goes 5 2/3 on Wednesday for win
JP Sears gave up four runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rangers.

Advice: Sears drew the starting assignment for the opening contest of Wednesday’s doubleheader and managed to limit Texas’ lineup to just seven hits, including a pair of homers, into the middle innings. He got nine runs of support from Oakland’s offense to cruise to a win. He struck out three and only issued one walk. He’ll bring a serviceable 4.20 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 33/13 K/BB ratio across 45 innings (eight starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the division-rival Astros. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Red Sox activate Nick Pivetta from 15-day IL
Red Sox activated RHP Nick Pivetta from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 31-year-old hurler will rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation on Wednesday night against the Braves. Prior to landing on the injured list, Pivetta had posted a 1-1 record, 0.82 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings through his first two starts. Given the fact that he threw just 62 pitches in his last rehab start — and the tough matchup against the Braves — fantasy managers may want to wait and see on this one before re-inserting him into lineups. • Michael Lorenzen hit hard in loss to A’s
Michael Lorenzen was lit up for six runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Lorenzen took the ball for the opening contest of Wednesday’s twin bill at Oakland Coliseum and turned in an absolute clunker. He was tagged for nine hits, including homers from Shea Langeliers and Brett Harris, before his calamitous outing came to a close. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll being an inflated 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23/14 K/BB ratio across 29 innings (five starts) into a home matchup on Tuesday against the Guardians. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago
  • Pulled after four innings
Bibee did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Tigers, allowing four runs on five hits in four innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Bibee looked sharp early Wednesday, allowing just one hit through his first three innings. However, things went south in the fourth, when Bibee allowed four runs on four hits. While Cleveland would ultimately rally for a win in extra innings, it was another disappointing start from Bibee -- he's now allowed 10 runs over nine innings in his last two outings. Overall, the 25-year-old right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 44:13 K:BB in eight starts (40.1 innings) this season. Bibee's currently slated for a tough road matchup against the Rangers early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 2:48 pm

  • Making another rehab start
Hendricks (back) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Hendricks made his first rehab start at Triple-A (second overall) on Tuesday, allowing one earned run in 4.1 innings while striking out six batters and walking three. He'll remain in the minors for another start, though there is no telling whether or not he'll be pulled off his assignment after Sunday's outing. If his next start does end up being his final appearance in the minors, Hendricks would be lined up to start May 17 against the Pirates. Rotowire.com Today, 2:39 pm

  • Daniel Hudson notches save Wednesday vs Marlins
Daniel Hudson tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Marlins to record his second save of the season.

Advice: Hudson got the call to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and tossed a flawless frame on 12 pitches (10 strikes). It’s worth noting that both Blake Treinen and Alex Vesia might’ve been unavailable after pitching during Monday’s series opener. This was Hudson’s first outing since an ugly blown save last Friday against the Braves. It’ll presumably remain a closer by committee situation with Hudson, Treinen and Vesia splitting the ninth-inning duties until Evan Phillips is ready to return from the injured list at some point later this month.
