• J.D. Martinez hits walk-off blast against Marlins
J.D. Martinez slugged a game-winning two-run homer on Thursday, lifting the Mets to a 3-2 walk-off victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Martinez’s walk-off shot came against Marlins stopper Tanner Scott in the bottom of the ninth inning and was his sixth round-tripper of the year. It was also somehow his first career walk-off homer in 14 seasons in the big leagues since 2011. He’s now hitting .271 with 21 RBI in 41 games for the Mets this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm

  • Done for 2024
Pereira was placed on the full-season minor-league injured list Tuesday, Conor Foley of YES Network reports.

Advice: The nature of the injury is unclear, but it's a major setback for Pereira regardless. He made his big-league debut in 2023 but failed to break camp with the Yankees. Pereira had maintained a 118 wRC+ with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre across 182 plate appearances prior to suffering the injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:44 pm

  • Suzuki swipes fifth base in loss Thursday
Seiya Suzuki went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base on Thursday.

Advice: Suzuki missed a couple of games last week with tightness in his side, but seemed to be feeling better in this one as evidenced by the stolen base. It was his fifth steal in 43 games this season. He had only six steals in 138 games with the Cubs last season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 pm

Josh Lowe went 1-for-1 with a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base against the Cubs on Thursday.

He came off the bench and started the scoring for the Rays in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single. He later stole second and scored what turned out to be the winning run. Lowe had been 0-for-13 with two walks in his previous five games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:21 pm
  • Enters Thursday's lineup
Jankowksi entered Thursday's lineup as the designated hitter and is hitting seventh, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Corey Seager (hamstring) was scratched with hamstring tightness, forcing Josh Smith to shortstop while opening a spot for Jankowski. Jankowski has now started four of the Rangers' last seven games, going 2-for-13 with stolen bases and two runs scored in that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:14 pm
  • Everson Pereira to miss remainder of ’24 season
Everson Pereira will miss the remainder of the season with an undisclosed injury.

Advice: There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days, but Pereira hasn’t played since May 19 for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and has now been placed on the full-season injured list. The 23-year-old made his big-league debut last season when he got into 27 games for New York. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:33 pm

  • Rays officially release outfielder Harold Ramírez
    Rays released OF Harold Ramírez.

Advice: Ramírez went unclaimed on waivers with no club willing to pick up the remaining portion of his $3.8 million salary for this season and is now officially a free agent. The 29-year-old outfielder was jettisoned from Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster last week after posting a lackluster .589 OPS with one homer and five steals through 48 contests. He shouldn’t have too much trouble latching on elsewhere. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:42 pm
  • Alek Thomas (hamstring) starts rehab assignment
Alek Thomas (hamstring) started a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Advice: Thomas has been out since early April due to a left hamstring strain and an early-May setback that delayed his return even further. There’s a strong possibility he’s back before the end of June. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:37 pm
