      Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

      Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games).     • Slugs go-ahead homer in extras
      Martinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Monday's 9-7 win against the Nationals.

      Advice: The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer.     • J.D. Martinez homers in 10th to propel Mets
      J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer in the 10th and walked twice Monday as the Mets bested the Nationals 9-7.

      Advice: This was a 3-3 game through nine, but Martinez broke the game open with his homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th. The Mets went on to score three more times in the frame, which proved important after the Nationals came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning.       Brown (6-5) earned the win Monday against Toronto, allowing two hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: The Houston right-hander continued his torrid hot streak, tossing an eighth consecutive quality start. Over those eight outings, Brown has gone 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB across 49 innings. Despite sporting a 9.78 ERA after his first 23 innings, the 25-year-old has now lowered his overall ERA to 4.07 in 86.1 total innings.     • Hunter Brown goes six scoreless to defeat Jays
      Hunter Brown tossed six scoreless frames, allowing only two hits, Monday as the Astros defeated the Blue Jays 3-1.

      Advice: The Jays had a chance in the second, when Brown gave up a single and walked two to load the bases with one out, but Ernie Clement and Kevin Kiermaier failed to bring home any runners. Other than that, Brown kept the Toronto bats very quiet on Canada Day. He’s won five straight starts, allowing a total of one run in the process.       Brandon Nimmo is out of Monday’s lineup after suffering a cut on his forehead when he fell in his hotel room last night.

      Nimmo is absent from Monday's lineup against the Nationals due to a laceration on his forehead, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

      Advice: Nimmo suffered the cut when he slipped and fell in his hotel room Sunday night in Washington, D.C.       Advice: Judge helped New York get off to a fast start with a 423-foot, two-run shot to center field in the first inning. He added a single later in the contest to notch his third straight multi-hit game, and the slugger has gone 7-for-12 with five RBI during that stretch.
