      Advice: Tatis opened the game's scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run home run off Slade Cecconi. The Padres right fielder added an additional RBI the next inning with a single.       Advice: Cease continued his brilliant start to the season Friday night, generating 18 whiffs en route to eight strikeouts. The erstwhile White Sox pitcher appears to have re-found his 2022 form, pitching to the tune of a 2.55 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB over 42.1 innings.       Manny Machado hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

      Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI in a 7-1 win Friday over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: The Padres were able to hit three homers Friday in the easy win, and Tatis Jr. swatted the first of those roundtrippers with a two-run shot in the fourth. The 25-year-old star also singled home a run in the fifth, and he’s up to seven homers and 20 RBI over the first month-plus.     • Dylan Cease pitches into seventh to get fourth win
      Dylan Cease allowed just a run in 6 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday while picking up a win.

      Advice: Cease was able to pick up his fourth win of the season with the victory. The right-hander picked up eight strikeouts in the process while not issuing any walks. When the 28-year-old throws strikes, he’s one of the toughest pitchers to have success against, and Friday was a good example of that. He’ll look to repeat his success against the Cubs next week.     • Brandon Marsh knocks in two in Phillies’ win
      Brandon Marsh had a two-run single and a stolen base Friday as the Phillies edged the Giants 4-3.

      Advice: Marsh is still in a little rut that’s seen him go 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts in his last six games. He got off to a fast start last year, only to cool off in May. We suspect that he’s a better player now than he was then, but he’s probably going to remain streaky with his strikeout tendencies.     • Jordan Hicks walks four in loss to Phillies
      Jordan Hicks gave up four runs — two earned — and walked four in four innings Friday in a loss to the Phillies.

      Advice: Improved control has been a big key for Hicks in his successful run in the Giants rotation, but this is the second time in his last three starts that he’s walked four batters, giving him14 walks in 38 innings for the year. The loss tonight was his first, and he still has a nice 1.89 ERA for the season. Still, he doesn’t seem like a great mixed-league option from here. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm

      Hicks (2-1) took the loss Friday against the Phillies, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: The Phillies scored three times off Hicks in the third inning before tacking on another run in the fourth, handing the right-hander his first loss of the year. While the four runs against Hicks were a season high, he's still yet to allow more than two earned runs through seven starts. Hicks still sports a stellar 1.89 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 30:14 K:BB across 38 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Colorado.       The Marlins traded Arraez to the Padres on Friday in exchange for Dillon Head, Woo-suk Go, Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

      Advice: It's not immediately clear how Arraez will fit into the Padres' lineup, as San Diego already has a strong infield unit that includes Jake Cronenworth, Xander Bogaerts, Ha-Seong Kim and Manny Machado, but it's possible Arraez fills in as the Friars' primary designated hitter. The 27-year-old is slashing .299/.347/.372 across 148 plate appearances so far this season, and his departure from Miami leaves Vidal Brujan as the favorite to take over as the Marlins' main second baseman.
