      The Cubs activated Bellinger (ribs) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

      Carroll will start in center field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

      Outman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-3 win over Miami.

      Advice: Outman was dropped to ninth in the batting order Monday after primarily batting in the No. 7 slot throughout the campaign, and he responded with his first long ball -- a 437-foot, two-run shot -- since April 9. It's been a struggle for Outman in his second full big-league campaign, as he's slashing a meager .169/.267/.303 and came into Monday having hit just .107 (3-for-28) over his previous nine contests. Outman may need to build upon Monday's homer with an extended run of success to continue to hold onto an everyday spot in the lineup, as rookie Andy Pages appears to have earned consistent playing time, Teoscar Hernandez is a staple in left field and veteran Jason Heyward (back) is getting closer to a return.     • Mixed results in season debut
      Buehler allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters over four innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

      Advice: Buehler had a favorable matchup in his first major-league start since mid-June of 2022, as he squared off against the team with the third-worst record in baseball. That didn't seem to matter early, though, as the Marlins jumped on the right-hander for a pair of first-inning runs on a trio of singles. However, Buehler's fastball velocity averaged a solid 96.6 mph in the frame, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, which foreshadowed him settling down to allow just one more run over the remainder of his outing. Not surprisingly, the 29-year-old wasn't pushed too hard in his return to the majors, as he was pulled after 77 pitches and four frames rather than being allowed to complete the fifth and qualify for the win. Assuming Buehler comes out of the start without any setbacks, Monday's outing will likely serve as a foundation on which he can build up to a higher pitch count moving forward.       Walker Buehler allowed three runs over four innings in a start Monday against the Marlins.

      Advice: He allowed six hits with no walks, and he struck out four. Buehler didn’t get deep enough to qualify for the win, as he threw 77 pitches in his first start since June of 2022. The right-hander gave up a pair of run-scoring singles in the first and a homer to Nick Gordon in the second, but Buehler settled down nicely over the final two innings, and showed flashes of the ace hurler he was prior to Tommy John surgery.     • Maikel Garcia drives in two in win against MIL
      Maikel Garcia went 1-for-2 with a two-run RBI single to help lift the Royals to a 3-2 win versus the Brewers on Monday.

      Advice: It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done. Garcia got great contact on a sinker off Elvis Peguero in the sixth inning that got in between shortstop and second base. According to Statcast, the hit probability was just 41%, but with an exit velocity of 106.5 MPH, Garcia definitely earned the hit. The 24-year-old is slashing .236/.292/.671 with four homers and 22 RBI this season. Rotoworld Monday, 8:36 pm
       
    • Coughs up three runs
      Castillo (3-5) yielded three runs on three hits over 6.2 innings Monday, striking out seven and taking a loss against the Twins.

      Advice: Castillo fired four shutout frames before the Twins broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. He later was charged with two more runs in the seventh. Entering Monday's start, Castillo had turned in four straight outings with two or fewer earned runs allowed. He's factored into the decision in each of his eight starts and snapped his three-game winning streak Monday. Despite the up-and-down start to his season, Castillo has registered a solid 3.54 ERA with a 56:11 K:BB through 48.1 innings.       Luis Castillo gave up three runs — two earned — over 6 2/3 innings in a loss Monday to the Twins.

      Advice: Castillo allowed just an unearned run over the first six, but two more crossed the plate in the seventh. The right-hander struck out seven against three walks, and it was another solid outing for the 31-year-old right-hander.       Buehler (elbow) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Monday's start against the Marlins.

      Advice: As expected, Buehler will toe the rubber Monday evening in his first MLB action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2022. He cruised through five innings April 30 during his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City, surrendering one run while fanning five batters, but even so, expect the club to keep a close eye on the right-hander's pitch count in the series opener.
