Yamamoto improved to 4-1 in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five over eight innings.

Advice: Yamamoto gave up a first-pitch home run to Jazz Chisholm to open up the game and his only other blemish on the night came from another solo home run by Bryan De La Cruz in the sixth. He was incredibly efficient, needing 97 pitches to navigate through eight innings. It was his first time pitching past six innings as a major leaguer and he's now won four straight decisions since suffering a loss in his debut on March 21 versus the Padres in the Seoul Series. Removing the shaky outing in Korea, Yamamoto owns a 1.76 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 45:7 K:BB in 41 innings this season. He'll look to keep rolling next week in a projected road matchup against the Giants. Buehler allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters over four innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

Advice: Buehler had a favorable matchup in his first major-league start since mid-June of 2022, as he squared off against the team with the third-worst record in baseball. That didn't seem to matter early, though, as the Marlins jumped on the right-hander for a pair of first-inning runs on a trio of singles. However, Buehler's fastball velocity averaged a solid 96.6 mph in the frame, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, which foreshadowed him settling down to allow just one more run over the remainder of his outing. Not surprisingly, the 29-year-old wasn't pushed too hard in his return to the majors, as he was pulled after 77 pitches and four frames rather than being allowed to complete the fifth and qualify for the win. Assuming Buehler comes out of the start without any setbacks, Monday's outing will likely serve as a foundation on which he can build up to a higher pitch count moving forward. Castillo (3-5) yielded three runs on three hits over 6.2 innings Monday, striking out seven and taking a loss against the Twins.

Advice: Castillo fired four shutout frames before the Twins broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. He later was charged with two more runs in the seventh. Entering Monday's start, Castillo had turned in four straight outings with two or fewer earned runs allowed. He's factored into the decision in each of his eight starts and snapped his three-game winning streak Monday. Despite the up-and-down start to his season, Castillo has registered a solid 3.54 ERA with a 56:11 K:BB through 48.1 innings. Buehler (elbow) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Monday's start against the Marlins.

Advice: As expected, Buehler will toe the rubber Monday evening in his first MLB action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2022. He cruised through five innings April 30 during his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City, surrendering one run while fanning five batters, but even so, expect the club to keep a close eye on the right-hander's pitch count in the series opener.
