    Luzardo (elbow) struck out six and allowed one hit and one walk over 5.2 scoreless innings in a rehab start with Single-A Jupiter on Sunday.

    Advice: Luzardo needed just 67 pitches to cruise through his 5.2 frames. Per Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com, Luzardo averaged 95.1 miles per hour and touched 96.4 mph with his four-seam fastball. The Marlins will likely wait a couple days to make sure Luzardo recovers from the rehab start without any issues, but he should be set up to return from the 15-day injured list for this weekend's series versus the Phillies.   • MLB updates ruling Friday
    MLB changed the official scoring on a play during Friday's game, which left Houck charged with three earned runs over six-plus innings, not four, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

    Eovaldi (groin) is not expected to require a rehab assignment, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Rangers manager Bruce Bochy expressed optimism that Eovaldi, who was placed on the injured list Friday, will return at the 15-day minimum. "We thought that [putting Eovaldi on the IL] was the best thing to do. He could be ready before then, that's a possibility, but we don't want to take any chances and will get more information and know exactly where he is at when he gets it looked at again [Monday]," Bochy said.     Nelson (2-2) picked up the win over the Padres on Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings.

    Advice: Nelson wasn't spectacular in his return from a trip to the injured list, but he didn't need to be after the Diamondbacks plated 11 runs through five innings. Nelson served up a two-run homer to Jackson Merrill in the second before Kyle Higashioka doubled in Ha-Seong Kim after he walked. The Padres would scratch across another run in the third before being silenced the rest of the way. Nelson was able to get up to 99 pitches and has slid into the rotation spot of Tommy Henry who was optioned to Triple-A Reno last week. Nelson owns a 5.23 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB in 20.2 innings and is slated for a tough road matchup against Baltimore his next time out. Rotowire.com Today, 4:56 am

    Waldron (1-4) took the loss Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out two over three innings.

    Advice: Waldron suffered his worst outing of the season, allowing a career-high eight runs while also posting the shortest outing since he debuted last year. The Diamondbacks put up a four-spot on him in the first, highlighted by a two-run blast from Ketel Marte. They tacked on another two in the second and then chased him out of the fourth with back-to-back doubles to open up in the inning. Despite the shaky results, Waldron may have been given another life after Joe Musgrove was put on the 15-day IL Sunday with elbow inflammation. He now owns a 5.82 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB in 34 innings and is expected to take the mound against versus the Dodgers over the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 4:40 am
  • Handles Giants for win No. 2
    Walker (2-0) earned the win over the Giants on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6.1 innings.

    Advice: The Giants got to Walker in the opening frame with a run, but he was able to silence them the rest of the way until Thairo Estrada crushed a two-run blast in the seventh to make it a 5-3 ballgame and end Walker's night. Walker has now carried strong outings into the seven inning in back-to-back starts to open up the season but hasn't quite been able to seal the deal. He has a 3.00 ERA through innings 1-6 and a 67.50 ERA in the seventh frame. His spot in the rotation is secure after the Phillies announced Spencer Turnbull would be operating as a bulk relief option moving forward.   • Roughed up by Phillies
    Webb (3-3) took the loss Sunday against the Phillies, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings.

    Advice: The Phillies scratched out a run versus Webb in the second before plating four more in the third, which was highlighted by Bryce Harper's three-run blast. Webb faced some more traffic in the fourth but ultimately got out of it unscathed with his day ending there after throwing 98 pitches. Following a dominant stretch of four consecutive outings allowing two runs or fewer and pitching at least seven innings, Webb has now given up four runs in back-to-back starts while failing to get more than 12 outs. The one positive note was that his six strikeouts set a season high. The 27-year-old owns a 3.50 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB in 46.1 innings and will look to get back on track in a projected home matchup against the Reds. Rotowire.com Today, 3:48 am
  • Sustains back injury Sunday
    Boyle, who was lifted after one inning in Sunday's loss to the Marlins, was suffering from lower-back pain that got worse the more he threw during the frame, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Boyle's performance clearly seemed to be affected by his physical limitations, as he allowed four earned runs on a hit and three walks over his sole inning on the mound. Manager Mark Kotsay confirmed Boyle would undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury, at which point the right-hander's chances of making his next scheduled start Saturday against the Mariners will become clearer. Per Sonja Chen of MLB.com, right-handers Osvaldo Bido and Joey Estes, both of whom have big-league experience and are on the 40-man roster, are candidates to be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas should Boyle miss at least one turn through the rotation, although she adds Oakland has long relievers Mitch Spence and Kyle Muller as options on the big-league roster.
