    • Blows save in extras
Iglesias blew the save Friday against the Dodgers. He allowed one unearned run on one hit and no walks with no strikeouts over one inning.

Advice: Iglesias entered the bottom of the 10th inning tasked with retiring the top of the Dodgers order to earn a save. He promptly retired Mookie Betts on two pitches before yielding a game-tying RBI single to Shohei Ohtani. However, since it was the automatic runner that scored, the Atlanta closer escaped Friday night without a hit to his ERA, which now stands at 2.03 over 13.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:35 pm
    • Secures eighth save
Iglesias gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: It wasn't the sharpest appearance for Iglesias, who put two batters on base before getting an out, but he settled down and took care of the heart of Seattle's order without too much more trouble. The right-hander has converted eight of his nine save chances to begin the year while posting a typically stingy 2.19 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through 12.1 innings, but there are signs Iglesias isn't quite in peak form -- his 94.5 mph average fastball is his lowest velocity since 2016, and his 18.0 percent strikeout rate is a massive drop from the 29.4 percent mark he delivered last season. His top velocity Wednesday was 95.3 mph, on a two-seamer to Luke Raley. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:16 am
    • Raisel Iglesias dodges traffic to net eighth save
Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Mariners to collect his eighth save of the season.

Advice: Iglesias was summoned to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and certainly made things interesting by issuing a leadoff walk to Luke Raley before giving up a single to ensuing batter Julio Rodríguez. He set down Mitch Haniger and Jorge Polanco before getting Cal Raleigh to ground out to preserve the victory. The 34-year-old veteran stopper has converted eight of nine save opportunities this season to accompany a sparkling 2.19 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 9/3 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings (13 appearances). • Shelby Miller takes blown save Tuesday vs. Cards
Shelby Miller allowed two runs in the ninth inning on Tuesday in a blown save against the Cardinals.

Advice: Tigers manager A.J. Hinch’s decision to hand the ball to Miller, instead of keeping stopper Jason Foley in the contest to attempt to convert a five-out save, backfired spectacularly as the Cardinals rallied for a pair of runs to waste a brilliant performance from Jack Flaherty. Miller surrendered three-straight one-out singles, including a game-tying knock to Alec Burleson, before rookie Pedro Pagés came through with a go-ahead sacrifice fly. It’s not what you want. • Picks up sixth save
Diaz pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers to record his sixth save of the season.

Advice: It didn't look like the closer's services would be necessary when the Reds took an 8-0 lead into the ninth inning, but Brent Suter served up back-to-back homers to Davis Wendzel and Corey Seager, and Diaz had to enter the game with one out and the tying run on deck. He was up to the task, needing seven pitches (five strikes) to get the final two outs. While his velocity remains down -- his fastball topped out at 94.0 mph Saturday -- Diaz is still getting results, converting six of seven save chances this season with a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB through 11 innings. • Alexis Díaz locks down sixth save on Saturday
Alexis Díaz recorded two outs in the ninth inning to convert the save against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: The Reds entered the inning with an eight-run lead over the Rangers. Brent Suter nearly let it get away from them, allowing four runs in the frame. Díaz would come in with one out, two runners on, and the tying run on deck. He induced a quick pop out and a groundout to end the game with his sixth save of the season. • Grabs fifth save
Diaz earned the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.

Advice: After allowing three runs and blowing a save in his first outing this year, Diaz has converted his subsequent five save opportunities, allowing just one run while striking out 10 over his last nine appearances. His ERA is down to 3.48 with a 1.16 WHIP across 10.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:13 pm
