    • Seth Lugo defeats Rays to improve to 8-1
      Seth Lugo delivered another dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Rays, surrendering just one run on four hits over seven strong frames.

      Advice: Lugo punched out three batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The lone tally against him came on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jonathan Aranda in the opening inning. After that, he was brilliant. The 34-year-old right-hander generated eight swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 19 percent. Now 8-1 on the season, he’ll carry a stellar 1.74 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 61/15 K/BB ratio (72 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Twins in Minnesota. Rotoworld Today, 6:24 pm
       
    • Getting another day of rest
      Parker's next projected start will be pushed back to Monday at Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. Parker was initially scheduled to face the Mariners on Sunday.

    • Pitches well but takes loss
      Flaherty (1-4) allowed three runs on seven hits across 6.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Blue Jays. He walked one and struck out nine.

      Advice: Home runs by Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Daulton Varsho accounted for all of the runs against Flaherty, but the righty otherwise was sharp once again. He's got a solid 3.84 ERA and has struck out 81 batters across 61 innings this year. The problem has been run support, as he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in three of his four losses so far. Despite the lack of wins, Flaherty looks like a promising fantasy asset, and he'll aim to keep rolling in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for next Thursday against Boston.     • Flaherty strikes out nine against Jays Thursday
      Jack Flaherty allowed three runs and struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

      Advice: The runs against Flaherty came on a solo home run by Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the third and a two-run home run by Daulton Varsho in the seventh. He has struck out at least nine batters in four of his 10 starts this season. Eight of those starts have been quality starts, but he’s only won one game due to a lack of support from the Tigers’ offense and bullpen.       Jones didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Giants, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: The rookie delivered a fourth consecutive quality start Wednesday and generated a double play in three separate innings to keep the Giants from putting a runner in scoring position until the fifth frame. In that fifth inning, Jones allowed a double and an RBI single to the first two batters he faced, then he surrendered a two-run homer to Matt Chapman in the sixth. Jones is one quality start shy of the league lead and holds a 3.05 ERA with a 68:10 K:BB across 59.0 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers in Detroit on Tuesday.       Jared Jones pitched well in a tough-luck no-decision on Wednesday, limiting the Giants to three runs on six hits over his six innings of work.

      Advice: The 22-year-old punched out five batters on the evening while allowing three walks. The Giants didn’t break through against him until Jorge Soler smacked an RBI single in the fifth inning. He then served up a two-run bomb to Matt Chapman in the sixth. Jones generated 16 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — seven of those on his slider — while registering a strong CSW of 32 percent.       Javier Assad yielded three runs — two earned — in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Braves.

      Advice: This really should have been worse, considering that Assad gave up two homers and walked five batters. Still, his ERA remained intact at 1.70, and though he left with the Cubs down by a run, he avoided taking what would have been his first loss in 10 starts this year.     • Takes step back Tuesday
      Assad allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Tuesday.

      Advice: Assad gave up a two-run home run to Orlando Arcia in the second inning and a solo shot to Michael Harris in the fourth. The five walks were also a season high, and it was the fourth time this season Assad has issued three or more free passes. For the season, he's at a 1.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46:20 K:BB through 53 innings across 10 starts. He's had little trouble with the long ball this year, so it's safe to assume he'll continue to find success in run prevention if he can keep the ball down.       Kikuchi (2-4) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Tuesday's performance marked Kikuchi's third quality start in his last four appearances. However, he owns a 0-2 record during that stretch as the Blue Jays have struggled offensively. The 33-year-old walked multiple batters for the first time since April 10 and was charged with two earned runs or fewer for the eighth time in 10 outings. On the year, Kikuchi owns a 2.64 ERA -- which would be a career-best tally -- with 61 strikeouts across 58 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers on Sunday.
