  • Anthony Rizzo hits 300th homer in Yankees’ rout
    Anthony Rizzo went 4-for-4 and hit his 300th career homer Sunday as the Yankees crushed the Brewers 15-5.

    Advice: Rizzo also walked. His homer, which was hit off Janson Junk, would have been out of Just 10 ballparks. It came in his 1,664th game since debuting with the Padres in 2011. He’s hit 57 in 307 games since arriving in New York. The formerly slumping Rizzo has six hits in two days and four homers in his last six games.   • Anthony Volpe homers, reaches four times
    Anthony Volpe went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks Sunday against the Brewers.

    Advice: A much-improved game for Volpe, who came into the day 7-for-47 with no homers and a 16/1 K/BB ratio in his previous 11 games. The Yankees haven’t wavered on using him as a leadoff man, even though he’s mostly struggled since moving up two weeks into the season.   • Jake Bauers goes 3-for-5, hits three-run homer
    Jake Bauers went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and pitched a scoreless innings Sunday against the Yankees.

    Advice: Bauers was in the lineup for just one game of the series against his previous team, but he made the most of it, delivering a three-run blast off Marcus Stroman. He’s at .214/.267/.411 in 60 plate appearances. A reduced role is probably coming once Christian Yelich (back) returns, particularly since Yelich will probably spend more time DHing than usual.   • Goes deep in win
    Garcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

    Advice: Garcia opened up the scoring in Sunday's contest, taking Andrew Abbott deep for a two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, driving in teammate Nathaniel Lowe in the process. The long-ball was his eighth of the season and third in his last six contests. The outfielder is now batting .291 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 19 runs scored and four stolen bases over 103 at-bats in 28 games this season. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • Senzel homers twice in win over Marlins
    Nick Senzel went 2-for-6 with two home runs and five RBI in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.

    Advice: Those were Senzel’s first two home runs of the season, but both were well-struck, traveling over 400 feet each time. The 28-year-old is not known for having big-time power and is slashing just .222/.263/.639 on the season with nine RBI, so this was likely just a one-off great day.   • Young has three hits, two SB in win over Miami
    Jacob Young with 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored, and two steals in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.

    Advice: Young now has 10 steals and a .333/.375/.400 slash line since becoming the regular center fielder. He hits 9th in the lineup and doesn’t bring much power to the table, so it’s hard to get overly excited, but he’s a great source of speed while he’s hitting like this.   • Mark Vientos hits walkoff homer in 11th
    Mark Vientos walked it off with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th as the Mets beat the Cardinals 4-2 on Sunday.

    Advice: Harrison Bader had previously tied the game with a single. Vientos entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Brett Baty against lefty Matthew Liberatore in the ninth and singled. He then remained in to play third base and, surprisingly, got another crack at Liberatore in the 11th. With Vientos going 3-for-4 so far in what was supposed to be a brief stay with the Mets, one wonders if the Mets might send Baty down and give Vientos a real chance at the third. It’d be a downgrade defensively, but the Mets would have Joey Wendle available to take over late in games. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

  • Nolan Arenado goes 0-for-5 in loss to Mets
    Nolan Arenado finished 0-for-5 in the loss to the Mets on Sunday, snapping a 25-game on-base streak.

    Advice: Arenado struck out once and failed to hit a ball hard in his other four attempts. Up with one out and a man on third in the top of the 11th, he hit a 200-foot fly that turned into a double play because Willson Contreras forgot how many outs there were. Arenado has just one homer this year. His hard-hit rate is only 27%. He’s doing what he can with a .271 average and a .328 OBP, but the power just isn’t there right now.   • Jazz homers, drives in four in loss to Nationals
    Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks, and four RBI in a loss to the Nationals on Sunday.

    Advice: Jazz clobbered a 395-foot grand slam off Patrick Corbin in the first inning at 102.7 mph. It was especially impressive coming off of a left-handed pitcher. While he didn’t get another hit on the day, he did work two walks, which is always nice to see from a young hitter who tends to be a free swinger. Chisholm Jr. is now hitting .245/.342/.382 on the season with three home runs and 15 RBI. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago
