• David Bednar silences Reds to notch 15th save
David Bednar tossed a perfect frame on Monday against the Reds to record his 15th save of the season.

Advice: Bednar was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to spin a flawless frame. It was a nice rebound effort for the 29-year-old stopper after giving up solo homers in each of his previous two appearances. He’s converted 15 of his 18 save opportunities on the year. • Undergoes internal brace procedure
Wells (elbow) underwent a UCL revision and internal brace augmentation surgery Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Wells avoided the second Tommy John surgery of his career, after he previously had the procedure in May 2019. However, while the internal brace procedure typically entails a shorter recovery timeline than Tommy John surgery, Wells will still miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign, and likely a few months of the 2025 season. Tyler Wells had successful right elbow revision ulnar collateral ligament surgery with UCL repair and internal brace augmentation on Monday.

Advice: The internal brace gives him a better chance of returning next summer, but a 2026 return still might be the most likely scenario here. • Dodgers select contract of RHP Michael Petersen
Dodgers selected the contract of RHP Michael Petersen.

Advice: Petersen is up as a bullpen arm to replace Michael Grove, with Grove now on the injured list due to a lat strain. If when he appears in a game, the 30-year-old will be making his MLB debut. Petersen can get his fastball in the high 90s and has the ability to miss bats, but he isn’t likely to pitch in a role that provides fantasy-relevance. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:09 pm

Bednar has now given up a home run in consecutive appearances, though the Pirates still won on both occasions. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:09 am

  • Hunter Greene goes five in win over Brewers
Hunter Greene threw five innings of two-run ball against the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Greene sported some of his best velocity of the year tonight, but he walked five and gave up a homer to William Contreras, leading to the early exit. He got the win anyway, moving him to 5-2 with a 3.61 ERA on the season. He really should be even better than this, but he needs to cut back on the walks some. Rotoworld Friday, 10:24 pm
