    • Sitting Saturday
Caballero is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Caballero will take a seat Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a double in the series opener Friday. Taylor Walls will start at shortstop Saturday and bat seventh against Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:04 am

    • Not starting Saturday
Suzuki (oblique) isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Suzuki was hit in the left side by a throw while stealing second base during Friday's loss, and he was later taken out of the game as a precaution after he felt his oblique tighten up. It's still unclear how serious his injury is, but the Cubs will play it safe Saturday and keep him sidelined. His absence will move Christopher Morel into the DH spot while Patrick Wisdom starts at third base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:01 am

    • Seiya Suzuki out Saturday due to side tightness
Seiya Suzuki (side) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Reds.

Advice: It doesn’t come as a surprise to see the Cubs proceeding cautiously here after Suzuki left Friday’s showdown for precautionary reasons due to left side tightness. The 29-year-old corner outfielder has dealt with oblique issues on both sides over the last few years, so it’s understandable that Chicago doesn’t want to take any chances here. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:43 am

    • Brandon Marsh to resume baseball activities
Brandon Marsh (hamstring) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Marsh has headed off to Triple-A Lehigh Valley for the weekend to starting working out with the Phillies overseas in London. The 26-year-old outfielder is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment at some point next week, unless the club determines he’s ready to jump right back into the big-league lineup. • Mason Miller nets first career victory on Friday
Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Friday against the Blue Jays to pick up his first win of the season.

Advice: Miller’s fastball velocity was down slightly in this one as he failed to touch triple-digits on three fastballs, but was still averaging a sizzling 99.4 mph in this one. He needed just 12 pitches to strike out a pair of batters in a flawless ninth inning before JJ Bleday delivered a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to give him his first win of the year. The hard-thrwoing 25-year-old former top prospect has blossomed into arguably the best reliever in baseball this season with 12 saves to go along with a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54/11 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (22 appearances). • Lifts ninth homer
Gurriel went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Gurriel has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 10-for-37 (.270) with three homers in that span. He didn't start Friday, but he entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and delivered with his ninth long ball of the campaign. The outfielder has added 37 RBI, 29 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .239/.282/.399 slash line over 252 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:53 pm
    • Secures first career win
Miller (1-0) struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the win Friday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The win was Miller's first in the majors, which came in his 32nd career appearance. He kept the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the ninth inning before JJ Bleday swatted a walk-off solo home run in the Athletics' half of the frame. While Miller's been scored on in three of his last six outings, he's still sporting a 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings this season. He's also gone 12-for-13 in save chances for a team that hasn't had a ton of leads to protect. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:34 pm

    • Dealing with oblique tightness
Suzuki said after Friday's game versus the Reds that he asked to be removed in the sixth inning after feeling tightness in his oblique, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Suzuki was hit in the side by a throw while stealing a base in the first inning, and he was checked on by trainers after appearing uncomfortable at the plate in the fifth frame. He later was replaced in right field by Mike Tauchman -- a precautionary move given Suzuki's recent history with oblique injuries. The Cubs haven't run any tests on the 29-year-old's oblique, so an update on his status will likely have to wait until before Saturday's contest. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:55 pm

    • Suzuki felt oblique tighten before leaving Friday
Seiya Suzuki left Friday’s game as a precaution due to tightness in his oblique.

Advice: Suzuki has dealt with oblique strains in the past and missed time in 2024 due to one, so the Cubs decided to be as careful as possible when he felt it tighten after being hit in the side. For now the outfielder should be considered day-to-day, but any type of tightness felt over the weekend will likely have the 29-year-old sitting. Rotoworld Friday, 7:41 pm
