      Advice: Carroll was removed from Sunday's game with discomfort in his left side, but he was ready to go Tuesday after an MRI came back clean. He led off the game with a walk, stole second base, then trotted in on Ketel Marte's home run. Carroll later tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly. The 2023 Rookie of the Year's season-opening slump has started to lift; he's 16-for-47 (.340) with four doubles, two triples, nine walks, four steals and 16 runs scored over the last 12 games.       Advice: Miller took a blown save in his last outing, though it was because he allowed an inherited runner to score. He's struggled a bit lately, allowing nine runs (six earned) with a 16:7 K:BB across 12.1 innings over his last 10 appearances. He's still performing quite well in the closer role for the Athletics, pitching to a 2.20 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB over 32.2 innings while going 13-for-15 in save chances this year.       Advice: The homer was Doyle's first since May 15, and it was also his first extra-base hit since June 3. While he hasn't hit for much power, the outfielder has been sharp at the plate and adds speed on the bases.       Advice: Doyle probably still shouldn’t be batting second for a quality major league team, but he’s made big gains this season, particularly in cutting his K:BB ratio from nearly 7:1 last year to slightly less than 3:1 this season.       Corbin Carroll went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Carroll tripled in the fifth inning to score Geraldo Perdomo from second and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ketel Marte. After a slow start to the season, Carroll has hit much better this month.       J.T. Realmuto (knee) told reporters Tuesday that he’s planning to return by next month’s All-Star break.

      Advice: Realmuto is roughly one week removed from right knee surgery to repair a meniscus tear and is hoping to get back into game action, barring any setbacks, in the days leading up to the All-Star break, which begins on July 15.       Advice: Contreras is back at designated hitter following a one-game absence for precautionary reasons following a scary-looking home-plate collision over the weekend.       Advice: Contreras had to sit out Monday's contest after he was hit in the head during a play at the plate Sunday. He now seems to be in good enough shape to play again, though it will be Gary Sanchez behind the dish catching for Tobias Myers. Contreras still holds a .305 batting average on the season, but he has struggled to find consistent success recently, slashing just .232/.246/.321 since the start of June.
