    • Back in lineup Sunday
Baez will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Baez has been dealing with lingering low-back soreness, which may explain why the Tigers held him out of the lineup for Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees. The sore back doesn't look as though it'll be anything that forces Baez to the 10-day injured list, but he could start receiving more frequent days off, especially if he continues to underwhelm at the plate. After turning in a .671 OPS and .592 OPS in the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, respectively, Baez has declined further so far in his third season in Detroit. He carries a .183/.228/.258 slash line into Sunday's contest. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:33 am

    • CJ Abrams collects two hits, steals base vs. Blue Jays
CJ Abrams went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Abrams knocked a base hit in the third and stole second to get into scoring position, but was stranded on the bases. Down by four runs with the bases loaded, he sent a fly ball to deep center field that fell just short of a grand slam. He settled for a sacrifice fly to bring home a run. Abrams added a base hit in the ninth, ending his day slashing .281/.348/.570 with seven homers, 23 runs scored, 19 RBI, and eight steals across 136 plate appearances. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:09 pm

    • Sitting Saturday
Baez isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Baez will get a breather Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener. His absence will allow Zach McKinstry to start at shortstop while batting eighth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:50 am

    • Javier Báez out of lineup Saturday vs. Yankees
Javier Báez is not in the starting lineup to begin Saturday’s game against the Yankees.

Advice: Báez will take a day off after going 0-for-3 Friday and is hitting just .183 with a .486 OPS. Zach McKinstry will get the start at shortstop instead and hit eighth for the Tigers. Rotoworld Saturday, 6:55 am

    • Sitting Game 1
Baez is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Advice: The veteran shortstop sat for Sunday's series finale versus Kansas City and finds himself on the bench for Tuesday's matinee. Zach McKinstry is starting at shortstop, and Baez will likely rejoin the lineup for Game 2. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:31 am

    • Productive in big win
Abrams went 1-for-3 with two walks, a two-run home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 7-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: The 23-year-old shortstop was once again the engine of the Nationals' offense from the leadoff spot, as Abrams took Trevor Rogers deep in the third inning then teamed up with Jacob Young for a double steal in the fifth. Abrams has reached base safely in 15 straight games, and on the season he's slashing .297/.377/.634 with seven homers, six stolen bases, 17 RBI and 21 runs in 25 contests. • CJ Abrams blasts two-run homer in win versus MIA
CJ Abrams went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in a 7-2 win against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: The 23-year-old continues to have a solid season slashing .300/.381/.640 with seven home runs and 16 RBI. His two-run home run came in the third inning as Trevor Rogers left a fastball right down the center of the plate and Abrams did not miss. There was a lot of discussion if Abrams’ 2023 season was a bit of beginner’s luck, but the Nats’ shortstop is showing that last season was not a one-off. Rotoworld Monday, 6:06 pm

    • Not starting Sunday
Baez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Baez started the previous seven games but will sit Sunday after he posted a .641 OPS during that stretch. Zach McKinstry will step in at shortstop for the series finale versus Kansas City. Rotowire.com Apr 28, 8:03 am

    • Javier Baez scratched from lineup Sunday vs. KC
Javier Báez was scratched from the lineup Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Báez was scheduled to hit eighth and play shortstop in the original lineup, but the shortstop will not start Sunday’s game for reasons that haven’t been disclosed yet. Zach McKinstry will start at shortstop in Báez’s place and hit sixth. Rotoworld Apr 28, 7:21 am
