    • Escapes jam for hold
Robertson allowed one hit, hit a batter and struck out three over a scoreless eighth inning Thursday, earning a hold in a 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Robertson put the first two batters he faced aboard, setting up a rematch with the top of the Dodgers' lineup after he had struck out Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman on Wednesday to preserve a Texas lead. Robertson proceeded to do the same exact thing Thursday. The veteran reliever has 14 holds this season to go with a 3.19 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 36.2 percent strikeout rate, his highest mark since 2017. • Logs another quality start in win
Houck (7-5) earned the win against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: He tossed three scoreless innings then loaded the bases and surrendered a three-run double to Kyle Schwarber in a rough fourth. Houck rebounded with two more scoreless frames to earn his fifth straight quality start and received plenty of offensive support, as the Red Sox tagged Aaron Nola for eight runs. Houck has now allowed three or fewer earned runs in 13 of 14 starts and has been one of baseball's biggest breakouts so far in 2024. On the season, he owns a 2.08 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 89:15 K:BB in 91 innings. Houck lines up to start next week against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:40 pm

    • Houck gets seventh win against Phillies Thursday
Tanner Houck allowed three runs in six innings and got the win in the Red Sox’ 9-3 victory over the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Houck gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out five. The win was his seventh of the season. Houck has allowed more than three earned runs in a start only once in 14 starts this year. His ERA is now 2.08 on the season. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Blue Jays on the road next week.

    • Shifted to 60-day IL
The Orioles transferred Means (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Advice: The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Levi Stoudt, who was claimed off waivers. Means is done for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last week. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:29 am

    • Collects another win
Suarez (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the A's, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

Advice: For the second straight game, Suarez benefited from a Padres walk-off homer, with Wednesday's coming off the bat of Jackson Merrill. The right-hander has been tagged for a run in only one of his 26 appearances since the beginning of April, and on the season Suarez sports a sparkling 0.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 29.1 innings. • Impressively strikes out side
Robertson earned his 13th hold in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers. He struck out all three batters faced in the eighth inning.

Advice: The Rangers were nursing a 3-1 lead when Robertson entered to start the eighth, and the right-hander was impressive, striking out Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman (all swinging). The 39-year-old Robertson has a 3.30 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 43 strikeouts over 30 innings as he continues to operate as the setup man to closer Kirby Yates. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:40 am
    • Holds on for 10th save
Neris earned a save against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with no strikeouts.

Advice: Entering with a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning, Neris surrendered a solo home run to Jose Caballero and then allowed a single and a walk before retiring Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe to escape with the save. This wasn't the most encouraging outing after Neris yielded four runs in a blown save Tuesday night, but manager Craig Counsell showed his faith in Neris as the team's closer by relying on him again Wednesday. On the season, Neris is 10-for-13 in save chances with a 4.21 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 24:19 K:BB across 25.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:39 pm

    • Héctor Neris gives up homer, earns save anyway
Héctor Neris picked up his 10th save despite giving up a solo homer in the ninth Wednesday against the Rays.

Advice: The Cubs got Neris right back in there after he gave up four runs in taking a blown save and a loss Tuesday, and he got the job done, though not before allowing a homer for the second straight night. He’s 10-for-13 saving games in spite of his 4.21 ERA and ugly 24/19 K/BB ratio. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:14 pm
