    • Homers in lopsided victory
Langeliers went 3-for-5 with a triple, a three-run home run and two additional runs scored in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Langeliers' 420-foot shot to left center with Kyle McCann and Lawrence Butler aboard in the eighth inning certainly wasn't necessary for the red-hot Athletics' victory, but it still had a bit of extra significance since it pushed Oakland's tally to 20 runs on the afternoon. Langeliers needed a prolific effort at the plate like Saturday's in the worst way, considering he'd come into the day with a .165/.222/.381 slash line. The three-bagger was also Langeliers' first of the season after he legged out four triples a year ago, and despite his significant struggles with batting average and on-base percentage, he's now knocked 11 of his 19 hits on the season for extra bases. • Shea Langeliers goes deep in A’s win over Marlins
Shea Langeliers went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI against the Marlins in Saturday.

Advice: Langeliers tripled in the second inning and scored the first run of the game on a base hit by Darell Hernaiz. He added a single to lead off the seventh and came around to score on a double by JJ Bleday. With the game already out of hand, he made it 20 runs for Oakland with a three-run homer in the eighth inning. The 26-year-old slugger is batting .186/.246/.441 with seven homers and 16 RBI across 114 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:24 pm
    • Hitting off tee
Murphy (oblique) began hitting off a tee during Atlanta's series against Seattle earlier this week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: It's the first time Murphy has swung the bat since landing on the 10-day IL on March 30 with a Grade 1 left oblique strain. Prior to the series in Seattle, Murphy was limited to light throwing and catching work in the bullpen. The 29-year-old still has a ways to go before starting a rehab assignment. • Sean Murphy (oblique) takes swings off a tee
Sean Murphy (oblique) took swings off of a tee while the Braves were in Seattle.

Advice: It’s a small step, but it’s at least a step in the right direction for the hard-hitting backstop. Everything went well with that swinging session and the club will continue to ramp him up from there. There’s still no clear timetable for when he may be able to return. Rotoworld Friday, 3:37 pm

    • Gets rest for day game
Diaz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: He'll get a well-deserved breather Thursday after starting at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Rockies' last nine games. Jacob Stallings will replace Diaz behind the dish. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:23 am

    • Productive in win
Langeliers went 1-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly, a double and a walk in a win over the Pirates on Monday.

Advice: The struggling backstop experienced a rare taste of offensive success in Oakland's fourth win in the last five games. Langeliers is still sitting on a forgettable .172 average and .227 on-base percentage across 97 plate appearances. However, eight of his 15 hits have gone for extra bases and he has an acceptable 21.6 percent strikeout rate, offering some support for the notion that he'll be due for a turnaround once his atypically low .143 BABIP sees a boost. • Gets Sunday off
Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Baltimore.

Advice: Langeliers had caught each of Oakland's last six games, so his absence from the lineup for the series finale is likely just a routine maintenance day. Kyle McCann checks in behind the dish and will bat ninth for Oakland. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:33 am
