  • Jake Irvin works around defensive issues Saturday
Jake Irvin allowed four runs -- zero earned -- with four strikeouts over five innings in a loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Irvin was put in a bad spot by the infield defense in the first inning. George Springer would reach on an error to lead off the game. A walk and a base hit would plate Springer for the first run before two more runs scored on a throwing error that would have gotten Irvin out of the frame. He would end the first at 35 pitches with four unearned runs in. He did a great job settling in, tossing four more scoreless innings before his day was done at 107 pitches. He struck out four. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 3.72 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 30/8 K/BB ratio across 38 2/3 innings into a start against the Red Sox in Boston next Saturday. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

  • Blake Treinen (lung) will be activated on Sunday
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Saturday that Blake Treinen (lung) will be activated from the injured list on Sunday.

Advice: Roberts also said that he won’t be easing Treinen back into action and that he won’t hesitate to use him in high-leverage situations from the get-go. The 35-year-old right-hander should provide a major boost to the back end of the Dodgers’ bullpen, but it’s unlikely that he takes too many save chances away from Evan Phillips.
