    McCormick (hamstring) began running Saturday and could participate in batting practice within the next few days, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Manager Joe Espada said McCormick has been feeling better since tweaking his hamstring Tuesday, and the team hopes to send him on a minor-league rehab assignment "pretty soon."   • Bo Bichette ejected from Saturday’s ballgame
    Bo Bichette was ejected from Saturday’s ballgame against the Nationals after spiking his helmet in frustration to a questionable called-third strike.

    Advice: The slumping 26-year-old shortstop appeared to take exception to a pitch that grazed the outside corner against him, and he took out some frustration on his helmet.     Cristian Javier (neck) made his first minor league rehab start at Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits over 3 1/3 innings of work.

    Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander walked a pair while striking out three batters in the contest. He threw 68 pitches in the game, 39 of those for strikes. There had been speculation that he would require just one rehab start before returning to the Astros’ rotation next week, we’ll see if that holds after how Saturday’s outing went.     Wiemer was diagnosed with a strained popliteus muscle in his left knee Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Luis Arraez will serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff in his Padres’ debut against the Diamondbacks on Saturday night.

    Advice: The sweet-swinging 27-year-old was hitting .299/.347/.372 with zero homers and five RBI through 148 plate appearances with the Marlins. He’ll now serve as the catalyst for a Padres’ offense that could use a boost at the top of the order.     Lance McCullers Jr. (elbow) threw off of a mound for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right forearm and also remove a bone spur in his elbow.

    Advice: The Astros are going to continue to take every precaution as they’re ramping him up, but the fact that he’s back on the bump is obviously an encouraging sign for the 30-year-old right-hander. Expect that he’ll repeat the process many times before he’s cleared to start facing live hitters. There’s still no clear timetable for a potential return to the big league rotation.     Advice: Pauley will be squeezed off the major-league roster following the acquisition of Luis Arraez from Miami. Pauley has been fantastic in the minors but struggled to get going upon joining the Padres, slashing .125/.125/313 across 32 plate appearances. The 23-year-old infielder may still return to the big leagues later this season as a bench piece, but San Diego's loaded infield unit will make it hard for him to contribute on a regular basis.     Mariners’ manager Scott Servais told reporters on Saturday that right-hander George Kirby underwent a precautionary MRI on his right knee.

    Advice: Servais didn’t relay any results from that exam yet, but did note that he’s optimistic Kirby will be able to make his next start against the Twins on Wednesday in Minnesota. While it doesn’t sound like anything serious, the mere fact that he required an MRI has to be at least somewhat worrisome for fantasy managers.
