    Advice: Erceg is dealing with a mild forearm strain, according to Athletics manager Mark Kotsay, which seems to indicate that he’s not facing an extended absence. The 29-year-old righty has been a revelation this season in a set-up role ahead of flame-throwing stopper Mason Miller, posting a 2.86 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 27/8 K/BB ratio across 22 innings (21 appearances).   • Pablo López strong for seven in beating Astros
    Pablo López pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday as the Twins downed the Astros 6-1.

    Advice: López generated 17 missed swings tonight, 12 of them with his fastball. His peripherals would suggest that he’s had pretty awful luck this season, but he was in close to peak form tonight.   • Ronal Blanco takes first loss of 2024
    Ronel Blanco took his first loss Friday after giving up four runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Twins.

    Advice: Blanco walked three and gave up a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach. Apart from the time he was ejected for his sticky stuff, this is the first time this year that Blanco has failed to complete five innings. Soriano has allowed four runs in five of his outings this year, including three of his last five starts. The closer is 12-for-13 in save chances this year. He's been hard to hit with a 1.42 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB over 25.1 innings as the Mariners' top ninth-inning option. Homers are becoming a problem for the right-hander -- he's allowed five of them over his last four starts after giving up just one across his first eight outings.
