    • Roughed up in loss
Sanchez (6-4) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings against the Cubs. He struck out three.

Advice: Sanchez' outing began in a familiar manner, allowing no runs through the first three innings while being staked with an early 2-0 lead. But Sanchez, who has done a great job this year at avoiding the big inning, couldn't escape that trap Thursday, allowing six batters to reach base during a five-run fourth, then saw his day end prematurely after the first two batters reached base in the fifth. All told, Sanchez, who was coming off a complete game shutout and had allowed just one earned run over 23 innings during his previous three starts, allowed a season-high seven runs, lifting his season ERA more than half a run from 2.41 to 2.96. He'll look to rebound next week when the Phillies host a showdown series against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:49 pm
    • Yandy Díaz gets rare day off Thursday vs. Royals
Yandy Díaz is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: It appears to be a routine off day for Díaz, who is rarely out of Tampa Bay’s lineup. It’ll be Isaac Paredes moving over to cover first base in his absence on the Fourth of July in Kansas City. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:31 pm

    • Idle Thursday
Diaz isn't in the Rays' lineup Thursday versus the Royals.

Advice: Diaz is getting an off day Thursday after going 1-for-9 in the first two games of the series versus the Royals. This is the first baseman's first absence from the lineup since May 25. Isaac Paredes will shift over from third to first and Jose Caballero will enter the lineup at third in the ninth spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:27 pm

    • Cristopher Sánchez has rare off day versus Cubs
Cristopher Sánchez surrendered seven runs in four-plus innings versus the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: After three scoreless innings, Sánchez gave up a walk, a 109-mph single and a 112-mph homer to Ian Happ to start the fourth. That wasn’t the end of the damage, though. The Cubs rallied for two more runs in that frame after another walk, and then had two more soft hits to begin the fifth, resulting in his Sánchez’s removal. Both runners later came around to score off Seranthony Domínguez. Sánchez was working on a 19-inning scoreless streak until the fourth today. He gave up as many earned runs today as in his previous seven starts combined, and his ERA jumped from 2.41 to 2.96. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:58 pm
    • Getting breather Thursday
Polanco is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Polanco was given a semi-day off Wednesday in the designated hitter slot and he'll be out of the lineup altogether Thursday. Ryan Bliss is getting the start at second base for the Mariners. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:09 am

    • Taking seat Thursday
Varsho is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Varsho started the past four games but will receive Thursday off after going 2-for-14 with a double and eight strikeouts during that stretch. Kevin Kiermaier will start in center field against Houston lefty Framber Valdez. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:36 am

    • Three-run shot in loss
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Freeman put the Dodgers ahead with a three-run blast in the bottom of the first and proceeded to reach base four times in the contest in a losing effort. It was the first baseman's 13th long ball of the season and the fourth in his last 15 games. Over that latter stretch he's batting .327 (18-for-55) with 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. Freeman has also recorded multiple hits in back-to-back games and in three of his last four. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:50 am

    • Day off Thursday
Ruiz is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Ruiz caught the first three games of the series, so he's due for a day off during Thursday's matinee. Riley Adams will do the catching for Jake Irvin. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:16 am

    • Starts at first base
Candelario started at first base and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Yankees.

Advice: This was Candelario's first start in the field since returning from a hamstring injury over the weekend. He served as Cincinnati's designated hitter the previous two games. As a result of him playing first base, Spencer Steer moved to left field for the day. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:52 am
