      Castillo allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings Sunday against the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

      Advice: The Twins struck early with a run in the first on two base hits. Castillo went on to retire 11 of the next 12 batters he faced but then ran into more trouble in the fifth, allowing a double and two more singles, which led to another pair of runs for the Twins. He was able to work his way through the inning, but his day would end there at 77 pitches. Castillo managed to not give up any free passes for the first time since May 12, though he's also failed to complete six innings in four of his last five starts. He still holds a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103:30 K:BB in 104.2 innings and projects to take the mound again to kick off a weekend series with Toronto. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
       
    • Luis Castillo grabs a bat Sunday against Twins
      Luis Castillo struck out three and allowed three runs over five innings on Sunday in a no-decision against the Twins.

      Advice: What a mess. Castillo was forced to grab a bat, and struck out looking in the fourth inning, after Seattle lost the designated hitter earlier in the contest when Mitch Haniger left the game following a hit by pitch. The 31-year-old righty was simply outdueled by Twins starter Joe Ryan, who limited the Mariners to just a pair of runs into the sixth inning before the bullpen took over and pretty much shut things down completely from there on out. He’ll bring a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103/30 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings (18 starts) into a home outing on Friday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:31 pm
       
    • Tyler Anderson hit hard Sunday in loss to Tigers
      Tyler Anderson was lit up for six runs over 4 2/3 innings on Sunday in a loss to the Tigers.

      Advice: Anderson was shelled for seven hits, including a two-run homer by Tigers rookie Justyn-Henry Malloy. He finished with just two strikeouts and only issued one walk. The 34-year-old southpaw has experienced some significant pullback in the run-prevention department over the last few weeks as his ERA has ballooned from 2.47 back on May 29 to a more league-average 3.03 mark by the end of June.       Irvin (6-6) earned the win over Tampa Bay on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

      Advice: Irvin served up a solo homer to Brandon Lowe in the first inning, but that was the only run -- and only hit -- he allowed in the contest. The right-hander recorded his seventh quality start over his past eight outings, and he's posted an excellent 2.09 ERA and 0.93 WHIP during that span. Irvin didn't seem like he'd be a fantasy factor this year after posting a 4.61 ERA and 1.42 WHIP as a rookie last season, but he's provided strong ratios with a 3.03 ERA and 1.06 WHIP along with an 86:23 K:BB across 98 frames.       Castillo will start Sunday's game against the Twins, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Castillo was initially projected to start Tuesday at Baltimore but with Bryan Woo (hamstring) hitting the IL, Castillo will pitch Sunday on regular rest.     • Irvin allows one in six innings in win over Rays
      Jake Irvin allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Nationals’ 8-1 victory over the Rays on Saturday.



      Advice: Irvin gave up one hit, walked three and struck out six. He allowed a solo home run to Brandon Lowe in the first inning, but was otherwise excellent. Irvin won four of his five starts in June and lowered his ERA to 3.03 on the year. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mets at home next week.

    • Throws six scoreless innings in win
      Suarez (4-2) earned the win over the Rangers on Friday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out two over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Suarez was efficient, needing just 87 pitches to toss his first quality start of the season. The righty generated only six swinging strikes, but this was a huge bounceback after he had allowed eight earned runs over his previous two outings. On the season, Suarez owns a 2.45 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB over 59.1 innings and lines up to face the Athletics next week. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:15 pm
       
    • Albert Suárez scoreless over six innings in win
      Albert Suárez shut the Rangers out over six innings on Friday. He struck out two and walked none in a 2-1 win for the Orioles.

      Advice: This was Suárez’s first quality start of the season. In fact, it was the first time he completed six innings. He didn’t have great swing and miss stuff or command of his off-speed pitches, but filled up the zone with his fastball and forced the Rangers into plenty of lazy fly balls. It’s hard to get very excited about him until we see more consistent strikeout totals. He has just 21 punch outs in 25 innings this month. Rotoworld Friday, 6:45 pm
       
    • Next start set for Tuesday
      Crawford's next start will come Tuesday in Miami after his last outing was suspended by rain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

      Advice: Crawford threw only 23 pitches over 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays before inclement weather forced an early end to his night. That game will be resumed Aug. 26 as part of a split doubleheader. Despite the righty's limited workload in that outing, the Red Sox have elected to give Crawford a full five days of rest before his next start.
