• Facing hitters Wednesday
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Mahle (elbow) will face live hitters Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bochy noted that Wednesday will be the first of four live batting practice sessions that Mahle will complete as he works his way back from his May 22, 2023 Tommy John surgery. If Mahle incurs no setbacks during the live sessions, he'll likely then head out on a minor-league rehab assignment that could last close to the maximum 30 days. Mahle looks to be tracking around a return from the 60-day injured list at some point shortly after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

  • O’s finalize minor league pact with Julio Teheran
Orioles signed RHP Julio Teheran to a minor league contract.

Advice: The deal is now official. Teheran fortifies Baltimore’s injury-depleted starting rotation with some additional depth, but doesn’t offer much appeal for fantasy managers. The 33-year-old journeyman right-hander is an option to take the ball for Thursday’s series finale against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago
  • On bench against lefty
Yastrzemski is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Yastrzemski will hit the bench Tuesday as lefty Blake Walston takes the mound for Arizona. Luis Matos will shift to center field while Heliot Ramos and Michael Conforto start in the corner outfield. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
  • Anthony Rendon (hamstring) nears baseball activities
Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters Anthony Rendon (hamstring) could resume light baseball activities this week.

Advice: Rendon has been out since late April with a partially-torn left hamstring and remains without a definitive timetable to return. The 33-year-old veteran might be ready to return at some point in the second half of the season. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Phillies sticking with Taijuan Walker amid struggles
Phillies manager Rob Thomson confirmed Tuesday that Taijuan Walker will remain in the starting rotation.

Advice: Walker receives yet another vote of confidence from Thomson as he’ll keep his rotation spot over Spencer Turnbull, who has been a revelation this season in his Phillies debut and will continue operating in long relief. The 31-year-old righty, who is in the second year of a four-year, $72 million contract, will take the ball on Sunday against the Mets in London his next time out. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago
  • Luis Arraez returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Angels
Luis Arraez (shoulder) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Angels.

Advice: Arraez is back at designated hitter and leading off on Tuesday night in Los Angeles following a brief one-game absence due to a relatively minor shoulder issue. The 27-year-old contact-oriented infielder has been excellent since arriving in San Diego, batting .391 (43-for-110) with one homer and three steals across 26 contests. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

  • Tommy John surgery scheduled
Javier (forearm) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The right-hander landed on the injured list in late May due to right forearm discomfort and is now set to miss the rest of the 2024 campaign. Javier will also be sidelined until at least the second half of 2025 as he rehabs from the surgery. It's been a rough week for Houston pitchers, as Jose Urquidy (elbow) is also in danger of needing the procedure. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago

  • Cristian Javier to undergo Tommy John surgery
The Athletic’s Chandler Rome reports Cristian Javier will undergo Tommy John surgery.

Advice: It’s a significant hit to Houston’s already razor-thin starting pitching depth as Javier has been a mainstay in their starting rotation for the last three seasons and boasts a stellar 3.59 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 27 percent strikeout rate over 501 innings (116 appearances, 82 starts) in the majors since 2020. Given the timing of the procedure, he’s likely to miss the overwhelming majority of the 2025 campaign as well. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

  • Out for season
Middleton (forearm) will undergo surgery next week to repair his right flexor tendon and will miss the rest of the season, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: The timing of Middleton's surgery will allow him to return at some point during the 2025 campaign. He signed a one-year deal with St. Louis in February with a $6 million club option for 2025, though the Cardinals' decision on whether or not to bring him back will likely depend on how much of the next season he's expected to miss.
