    Advice: No surprise here as Riley will miss his eighth straight contest due to an ongoing side issue after sitting out both contests of Monday’s doubleheader. There’s been zero indication that he’ll wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, despite the fact that he’s yet to resume swinging a bat. It’s a frustrating situation for fantasy managers, but it doesn’t sound like the Braves are going to make a roster move at this juncture.     Advice: Riley hasn't played since May 12 because of left intercostal inflammation. Atlanta has resisted putting its third baseman on the 10-day injured list so far, and at this point, it would appear the team will continue to wait things out. He was cleared to take soft swings in the batting cage Tuesday, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com, so Riley at least appears to be making progress in his recovery.     Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Lodolo (groin) will throw an extended bullpen session within the next day or two, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

    Advice: Following the bullpen session, a plan will be mapped out for Lodolo's return. The left-hander had previously expressed optimism that he could be back from the 15-day injured list when first eligible on May 27, so it's possible he'll skip a rehab assignment and go right back into the Reds' rotation if things go well during the bullpen session.     Lane Thomas (knee) is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Harrisburg.

    Advice: Thomas has been on the injured list since near the end of April due to a sprained left MCL. The outfielder will likely need a week or so of rehab appearances, but then could return to the Washington lineup near the end of May.   • Logs steal in loss
    Pena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Angels.

    Advice: Pena is hitting .324 (23-for-71) over 19 games in May. It hasn't been a totally empty average -- he's picked up five extra-base hits, three steals, nine RBI and 14 runs scored. The shortstop is slashing .326/.365/.457 with seven steals, five homers, 20 RBI and 30 runs through 48 contests overall.     Santander (knee) is batting fifth as the designated hitter Monday against the Cardinals.

    Advice: Santander aggravated his bruised knee Saturday against the Mariners and was held out of the lineup Sunday, but he's been cleared to bat in the series opener at St. Louis. The 29-year-old said Sunday that running in the outfield has been a bit problematic, so he could continue to serve as Baltimore's DH for the next few days as he completes his recovery.
