• Rafael Devers walks three times, drives in two
Rafael Devers drove in two runs while walking three times in a victory over the Marlins in extra-innings Thursday.

Advice: Hard to drive in runs without getting a hit, but Devers is capable of doing anything he set his mind to. He drove in both runs on fielder’s choices. All three of the walks were intentional, which is not something you see too often in 2024, or any year really. He’s now hitting .288/.375/.568 on the season with 51 RBI. • Jose Miranda goes 5-for-5 to lead Twins
Jose Miranda finished 5-for-5 with three doubles and four runs scored Thursday as the Twins topped the Tigers 12-3 in a rain-shortened game.

Advice: The contest was delayed in the bottom of the seventh and eventually called. Miranda has hit in eight straight games, raising his average to .312. Over the last 30 days, he’s hitting a robust .379/.434/.586 with as many extra-base hits as strikeouts (13). It seems like last year’s struggles really were all about his troublesome right shoulder, and he’s back looking very much like a long-term regular now. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:31 pm

  • Spencer Steer socks three-run HR against Yankees
Spencer Steer hit a three-run homer while helping the Reds to an 8-4 win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Steer extended the Reds’ lead to 5-0 with a three-run blast off Marcus Stroman; the third homer Cincinnati hit against the right-hander. Steer has now gone deep 11 times with 54 RBI. The 26-year-old infielder’s .239/.332/.416 slash leaves a bit to be desired, but he’s starting to swing the bat better and should be a solid fantasy option over the second half of the 2024 campaign. • Getting breather Thursday
Polanco is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Polanco was given a semi-day off Wednesday in the designated hitter slot and will be out of the lineup altogether Thursday. Ryan Bliss is getting the start at second base for the Mariners. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:09 am

  • Out of Thursday's lineup
Merrifield is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Merrifield has gone 4-for-23 over his past 11 contests and will hit the bench for Thursday's series finale in Chicago. Brandon Marsh, Johan Rojas and David Dahl will start from left to right in the outfield. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:56 am

  • Swipes bag Wednesday
Merrifield went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Merrifield has two steals over his last six contests, but he's gone just 4-for-23 at the plate over his last 11 games. The infielder has recorded 20-plus steals five times in his first eight major-league campaigns, but his smaller role and lackluster ability to get on base in 2024 has put a damper on his speed contributions. He's slashing .190/.277/.282 with eight steals, three home runs, 10 RBI and 19 runs scored over 160 plate appearances this year. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:37 pm

  • Josh Smith knocks in run with a double
Josh Smith went 1-for-4 an RBI double on Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: Smith’s double was the third Rangers’ run in a three-run third inning off Adam Mazur. It felt like they’d be in for a big night before being shut down by the Padres bullpen. Still, Smith will not stop hitting and he’s slotted in either second or third the Rangers’ lineup for 12 straight games. Hit smack dab in the middle of Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Adolis García, and Wyatt Langford is a great place to accumulate runs and RBI. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:55 pm

  • Austin Riley hits key two-run double
Austin Riley went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and run scored against the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Riley’s fifth inning double off Jordan Hicks proved to be a decisive blow in this one. All in all, he had three batted balls hit at least 98.5 MPH and has pulled his OPS all the way up to .760 on the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:59 pm

  • Jhonkensy Noel batting .235 through six games
Jhonkensy Noel went 1-for-4 with a single on Wednesday in the Guardians’ loss to the White Sox.

Advice: It’s admittedly an extremely small sample size, but Noel is batting just .235 (4-for-17) with eight strikeouts in six games since being called up last week from Triple-A Columbus. The 22-year-old slugger has also homered twice during that span, but it’s really been an all-or-nothing stretch for him so far as he adjusts to life in the majors. There’s some appeal here for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues if he can make enough contact to consistently showcase his mammoth raw power. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:20 pm
