    Advice: Cortes matched a season high with nine strikeouts, as he allowed only four baserunners in the contest. Cortes shut out the Tigers through six but was pulled with one out in the seventh after allowing two base hits in the inning. Both runners eventually came around to score, tying the game and ending Cortes' bid to earn his second win. It was the fourth quality start in eight games for Cortes, who lowered his ERA to 3.72 with a 1.03 WHIP and 46 strikeouts through 48.1 innings.     Clase picked up the save Sunday against the Angels, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.

    Advice: Clase made quick work of Willie Calhoun, Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss on Sunday, needing just 10 pitches to retire the side and pick up his 10th save of the campaign.     Nestor Cortes looked sharp in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday, giving up two runs on just three hits over 6 1/3 innings of work.

    Advice: The crafty 29-year-old southpaw piled up nine strikeouts on a rainy afternoon in the Bronx while allowing just one base on balls. He kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but he allowed a pair of singles before departing in the seventh — and both runners came around to score against the Yankees’ bullpen. Cortes got 13 whiffs on 97 pitches on the day, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.72 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 46/8 K/BB ratio (48 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Rays in Tampa Bay.   • Josh Hader yields go-ahead homer in ninth
    Josh Hader lost after giving up a go-ahead homer in a tie game Sunday against the Mariners.

    Advice: It’s the save situations in which Hader has struggled, but the loss today came after he was asked to preserve a tie. Cal Raleigh’s homer was the second surrendered by Hader in 14 2/3 innings this year.     Turnbull will be available out of the Phillies' bullpen Sunday versus the Giants, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

    Advice: It could wind up being a piggyback situation with Taijuan Walker, although manager Rob Thomson didn't explicitly say that would be the case. Turnbull has earned a spot in the Phillies' rotation with a 1.67 ERA and 36:10 K:BB in 32.1 innings, but the team also wants to keep an eye on his workload since he hasn't thrown more than 56.2 innings in a season since 2019.   • Picks up first hold Saturday
    Duran gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning Saturday to record his first hold of the season in a 3-1 win over the Red Sox.

    Advice: The right-hander got the call to face the heart of Boston's order in the eighth rather than being held back for the save chance, and he got the job done without issue. Cole Sands then worked the ninth inning for the save. Duran had only one hold last season along with his 27 saves, and Twins manager Rocco Baldelli typically favors set roles in his bullpen over playing matchups in high-leverage spots, so there's no reason yet to assume this is a sign Duran will see less ninth-inning work than expected.     Advice: Boston pushed across a run in the top of the first inning, but Lopez slammed the door shut after that, generating 19 swinging strikes among his 99 pitches as he tied his season high in Ks. The quality start was the third of the season for the right-hander, and Lopez will take a 4.30 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 45:8 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners.   • Pablo López fans eight in victory over Red Sox
    Pablo López delivered a dominant performance in Saturday afternoon’s victory over the Red Sox, piling up eight strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.

    Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander scattered just five hits and one walk on the afternoon. The lone tally against him came as Tyler O’Neill smacked a two-out double in the opening inning and Wilyer Abreu followed with a run-scoring single. Aside from that, he was in complete control. López got 19 swings and misses on 99 pitches on the afternoon — 11 of those on his fastball — while posting a strong CSW of 31 percent.     Blanco allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during a win over Seattle.

    Advice: All the damage against Blanco came via the long ball, with Jorge Polanco going deep in the third inning followed by Dylan Moore in the fifth. Entering Friday's start, Blanco had given up just two homers through 32.2 frames. It was the first time this season he's allowed more than two runs in an outing but he still produced his fifth quality start. Blanco owns a terrific 2.09 ERA with a 36:16 K:BB.
