• Gavin Sheets homers, scores three runs in win
Gavin Sheets homered, walked twice and scored three runs Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Major league players had scored three runs in a game 159 times this season coming into the night, but this is the first time a White Sox player had done so. It’s also the first time Sheets has reached the mark in his 354 career games. It actually puts him at exactly 100 runs scored for his career. He’s been perfectly solid in hitting .235/.341/.417 for the White Sox. It’s just a mistake to ever ask him to play the outfield, something that will again become an issue once Eloy Jiménez gets healthy. Rotoworld Friday, 8:30 pm

  • Getting breather versus LHP
Carpenter isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The left-handed bat of Carpenter will be forced out of the lineup Friday as southpaw Austin Gomber prepares to toe the slab for Colorado. Jose Fermin will instead serve as St. Louis' designated hitter while batting seventh. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:09 pm
  • Slugs homer Thursday
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 11-7 win over Pittsburgh.

Advice: Freeman helped Los Angeles' offense get off to a fast start with his three-run blast in the first inning. The long ball extended his modest hitting streak to five games, during which he has slashed .389/.455/.889 with two homers, five RBI, five runs and two steals. Freeman has four home runs over his past 15 contests, matching the amount of homers he hit across his initial 49 games of the campaign. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:33 am
  • Homers off bench Thursday
O'Hearn hit a two-run homer as a pinch hitter in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: As usual, O'Hearn started the game on the bench with the Orioles facing left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. O'Hearn entered in the ninth inning and delivered a homer to cut the Orioles' deficit to one run, but they couldn't tie it up. The 30-year-old is up to eight homers over 48 contests this season, and he's added a trusty .280/.343/.471 slash line with 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and one stolen base over 172 plate appearances. O'Hearn continues to be in the lineup versus nearly every opposing right-hander. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:27 pm
  • Smacks homer in loss
Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 14-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Vaughn has hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-23 (.348) in that span. He dealt with a sprained left ring finger to begin June, but it hasn't slowed him down since he was cleared to return. The first baseman is up to five homers on the year with 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base and a .211/.275/.338 slash line through 233 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:36 pm
  • Freddie Freeman swats three-run homer in win
Freddie Freeman walloped a three-run homer on Thursday in the Dodgers’ win over the Pirates.

Advice: Freeman followed singles by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in the opening frame with a no-doubter down the right-field line off Pirates starter Bailey Falter. The 34-year-old first baseman has gone deep twice in his last four contests and is up to eight big flies on the year to go along with a .294 batting average and 38 RBI through 64 games. • Swipes bag in loss
Freeman went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run against Pittsburgh in a loss Wednesday.

Advice: Freeman has been much less active on the basepaths this season -- he's attempted just four steals (with three successes) after going 23-for-24 last year. That 2023 performance was likely an aberration, as the 23 thefts were 10 more than his previous career-high mark. Freeman's other numbers are mostly down so far this season as well, but he's still been quite productive with a .294/.397/.476 slash line, seven homers, 17 doubles, 35 RBI and and 36 runs through 63 contests. • Absent from lineup versus lefty
O'Hearn isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

Advice: Southpaw Yusei Kikuchi is drawing the start for the Blue Jays, which means the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will head to the bench for the series finale. Adley Rutschman will get a start at designated hitter while James McCann handles the catching duties. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:31 am
  • Hits sixth homer
Schanuel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Schanuel hit a leadoff homer in the first inning on Dylan Cease's fifth pitch of the game. Prior to Wednesday, Schanuel was stuck in an 0-for-18 rut, adding just one walk and one hit-by-pitch in that span. The first baseman hasn't done much this year with a .216/.287/.330 slash line, six homers, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored and no stolen bases over 218 plate appearances. While the 22-year-old hasn't hit well, he's yet to slip down the order from the leadoff spot he's occupied for much of the campaign. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:27 pm
