    • Goes yard in loss
Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 8-2 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: he New York outfielder accounted for the only Mets runs of the game, hitting a 428-foot, two-run homer off Mitch Keller in the sixth inning. The nine-year veteran has tapped into his power recently, as he entered slugging .671 with 12 extra base hits -- six homers and doubles apiece -- in 90 plate appearances over his previous 20 games. After missing a game July 1 due to a forehead laceration, Nimmo has batted .320 (8-for-25) with three extra-base hits, five RBI and three runs scored in seven games this month. • Report: Angels unlikely to trade Taylor Ward
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, “the Angles likely will hang onto” Taylor Ward and starters Tyler Anderson and Griffin Canning at the trade deadline.

Advice: All three players are still under team control through at least 2025 and are likely to remain with the Angels “unless they receive overwhelming offers.” Anderson and Canning staying put will keep their spots in a starting rotation secure but also keep their chances of wins low, while Ward staying in Los Angeles will also help guarantee everyday playing time but continue to see him hit in a weak lineup. • Report: Josh Bell trade “is unlikely”
According to the Miami Herald’s Craig Mish, it’s unlikely that the Marlins are able to trade Josh Bell at the deadline.

Advice: It’s not that the Marlins don’t want to trade Bell, but his $8 million salary, sub-.700 OPS, and declining defense will make it hard for Miami to convince a contender to take him on. Mish believes “a trade is unlikely,” which means that Bell will likely continue to have limited fantasy value in a poor lineup. Rotoworld Today, 8:19 am

    • Another timely homer Sunday
Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Yankees.

Advice: Rafaela delivered late with a solo home run off Jared Weaver in the eighth to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. He now has three homers and nine RBI over his last six games and has seen his hitting numbers steadily rise since early June after a slow start to the campaign. The 23-year-old is now slashing .244/.272/.417 with 11 homers, 50 RBI, 43 runs, 11 steals and an 11:87 BB:K in 325 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:42 am

    • Ceddanne Rafaela goes deep as Red Sox top Yankees
Ceddanne Rafaela went 1-for-3 and belted a solo homer on Sunday night as the Red Sox eked out a victory over the Yankees in New York.

Advice: The versatile 23-year-old delivered a valuable insurance run with a two-out, 412-foot (106.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Luke Weaver in the eighth inning that increased the Red Sox’ lead to 2-0. On the season, he’s now hitting .244/.272/.417 with 11 long balls, 50 RBI and 11 stolen bases through his first 87 ballgames. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 pm

    • Homer among four hits in win
Heim went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, an additional RBI and three total runs scored in Sunday's 13-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: Heim tied the game with an RBI single in the fourth inning before adding a solo shot in the sixth. The catcher has gone 15-for-41 (.366) with two homers, four RBI and eight runs scored over his last 12 contests. For the season, he's up to eight homers, 36 RBI, 31 runs scored, one stolen base and a .247/.294/.367 slash line across 296 plate appearances in a starting role. • Pre-break return possible
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that Assad (forearm) could be activated from the injured list prior to the All-Star break, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Heraldreports.

Advice: The right-hander landed on the shelf in late June with a strained forearm, but he wasn't shut down from throwing for long and had a bullpen session Friday. The Cubs have a doubleheader Saturday in St. Louis, and that would be a logicial point for him to be re-insterted into the rotation ahead of the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:06 pm

    • Blows save but notches win
Diaz (3-1) got the win during Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Pirates but also blew the save. He did not allow a run on one hit, one walk and one strikeout over 1.1 innings.

Advice: With the Mets leading 1-0, Diaz entered the game with two outs in the eighth and allowed a walk and the go-ahead hit. After Francisco Lindor gave his team the lead, Diaz came back out and pitched a clean ninth to pick up his third win. The 30-year-old returned from his 10-game suspension on Saturday, and he picked up the save. With Sunday's outing, he hasn't allowed a run in his last six appearances and has lowered his ERA to 4.26.  Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:21 pm
    • Heim has four hits, HR in win over Rays
Jonah Heim went 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI in a win over the Rays on Sunday.

Advice: The home run was his eighth on the season to go along with 36 RBI. Heim is hitting just .247 on the season but has been hitting better of late, going 15-for-49 (.306) over his last 15 games with two home runs, nine runs scored, and five RBI. It’s not quite the numbers from last season, but it’s enough to be a fringe fantasy contributor in one-catcher leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:34 pm
