    • Battling stiff back
Luzardo pitched through a stiff back Sunday, Bally Sports Florida reports.

Advice: The southpaw got the hook after gutting out five innings and 77 pitches, but Luzardo clearly didn't have his best stuff and his velocity was down about two miles per hour. There's been no indication yet from the Marlins that he will miss his next turn in the rotation, which lines up to come Saturday against the Mariners, but that determination may not be made until later in the week. • Reaches double figures in saves
Phillips picked up the save Sunday against Kansas City, allowing one walk with no strikeouts across a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Phillips corralled his second save since being reinstated from the 15-day IL on May 31, increasing his season total to 10 saves. The 29-year-old hasn't allowed a hit in three of his four appearances in June but was tagged for three runs in a June 6 outing against the Pirates. On the year, Phillips owns a 1.93 ERA with 21 strikeouts across 18.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 pm
    • Earns 13th save
Megill allowed a hit and a walk over a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out one and earning a save over the Reds.

Advice: Megill ran into trouble and nearly blew the save, but Blake Perkins saved the day with a game-ending outfield assist. He's converted seven straight saves since blowing a chance against the Marlins on May 20 and is now 13 for 14 this season. Megill owns a 26:7 K:BB and a 2.14 ERA through 21 innings. • Earns one-out save
Cano struck out the only batter he faced Sunday to earn the save against the Phillies.

Advice: Cano was called upon to clean up a bases-loaded situation with the tying run on deck and two outs in the ninth, earning his third save in the process. Cano earned the opportunity with usual closer Craig Kimbrel being rested after having pitched in each of the first two games of the series. While Cano maintains a prominent role in the Orioles' bullpen, Kimbrel has not allowed an earned run in over a month and maintains a strong hold on the closer role. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:41 pm
    • Corbin Carroll doesn’t think injury is serious
Corbin Carroll (ribs) told reporters after Sunday’s game that he doesn’t believe his rib injury is serious.

Advice: He’ll undergo a precautionary MRI exam in Arizona on Monday before traveling to join the team in Washington. Carroll said he felt much better after Sunday’s game though, and is optimistic that he won’t have to miss any time. We’ll have to wait and see what Monday’s imaging yields. Thomas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win against Miami.

Advice: Thomas is red-hot, hitting a home run for the third consecutive game and extending his hitting streak to 10 games. During the streak, the 28-year-old is batting .351 with four home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored and one stolen base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:59 pm

    • Looks set for 2024 debut this week
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed Sunday that Scherzer (back/thumb) will return from the 60-day injured list during the upcoming week as long as he experiences no issues bouncing back from his rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock this past Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: The Rangers will likely officially sign off on Scherzer making his 2024 debut once he throws a bullpen session in front of the coaching and training staffs early in the week, but all signs point to the right-hander being ready to slot back into the rotation with a limited workload restriction, if he has one at all. In his latest rehab outing with Round Rock on Saturday, Scherzer struck out eight while throwing 79 pitches over 4.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks. Since he had been pitching on five days' rest during his time with Round Rock, Scherzer appears likely to start for the Rangers either Friday or Saturday versus the Royals. • Ronel Blanco fires seven no-hit innings in victory
Ronel Blanco delivered a dazzling performance in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Tigers, firing seven innings of no-hit baseball.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler racked up eight strikeouts in the contest while issuing three free passes. He carried a bid for a perfect game into the fifth inning where he issued a two-out walk to Gio Urshela. He then walked Akil Baddoo and Carson Kelly to load the bases before getting Zack McKinstry to fly out to end the threat. Those would be the Tigers’ only base runners against him. Blanco got 15 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the day — eight of those on his changeup — while registering an elite CSW of 41 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort as he totes a 7-2 record, 2.43 ERA and 0.97 WHIP into Sunday’s showdown against the Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:52 pm

    • Set for MRI on Monday
Carroll (side) will undergo an MRI in Phoenix on Monday, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Advice: Carroll left Sunday's 12-5 win over the White Sox in the seventh inning with left side discomfort, and he will now require some additional imaging. The Diamondbacks will begin a three-game series on the road against the Nationals on Tuesday, and with Carroll staying in Arizona for the MRI on Monday, it's possible that he's forced to miss at least one contest. In his absence, Randal Grichuk would stand to see an increased role in the outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:48 pm
