    • Royals activate Kris Bubic (elbow) from 60-day IL
Royals activated LHP Kris Bubic from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw will work out of the Royals’ bullpen for the time being as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. Bubic logged 35 2/3 innings on his minor league rehab assignment, registering a 3.53 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 42/13 K/BB ratio. Walter Pennington was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move on Saturday. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:10 pm
    • Recalled ahead of start
The Mariners recalled Hancock from Triple-A Tacoma to start Saturday's game against Toronto.

Advice: Hancock last pitched for the Mariners on June 13, and he has since thrown 9.1 scoreless innings over two starts in Triple-A. He'll be called upon to get the M's through Saturday's contest, though his time in Seattle's rotation may only last one start with Bryan Woo (hamstring) nearing a return from the IL. Seby Zavala was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:59 am
    • Mariners recall Emerson Hancock for Saturday start
Mariners recalled RHP Emerson Hancock from Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: Hancock will take the ball on Saturday afternoon against the Blue Jays for his first start in the majors since June 13. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect holds a serviceable 4.79 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 24/13 K/BB ratio across 41 1/3 innings (eight starts) this season in the big leagues. It’s difficult to completely trust him for streaming purposes, but he’s worth keeping on fantasy managers’ radar screens if he were to get an extended opportunity with Seattle. • Set to start Saturday
Hancock, who is with the Mariners' taxi squad, is slated to start Saturday against the Blue Jays, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: In his last start in the majors, Hancock allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one over seven innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on June 13. He has a 4.79 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over eight major-league starts this season. Hancock's spot start Saturday gives the Mariners' rotation extra rest while Bryan Woo (hamstring) begins his rehab assignment with High-A Everett over the weekend. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:32 pm
    • Emerson Hancock to start for Mariners on Saturday
Emerson Hancock will be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to start for the Mariners on Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hancock is already with the team on their taxi squad, but he’ll officially get the call prior to Saturday’s game. The 25-year-old right-hander has already made eight starts for the M’s this season, posting a 4.79 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 24/13 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings. The Blue Jays’ offense as a whole has been better of late though, so it’s no longer the strong streaming target that it was earlier in the season. Rotoworld Friday, 3:29 pm
    • Trending toward return Monday
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Paddack (arm) is doing well in his rehab program and is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to start Monday's series opener against the White Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Paddack landed on the IL on June 25 due to right forearm fatigue, a possible side effect of the 28-year-old pitching in a full season for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May 2022. After responding well to his recent throwing sessions, Paddack looks like he'll be ready to come off the IL without having made a rehab start before hand. If he does make it back Monday, he'll face a White Sox team that ranks 29th this season in both batting average (.221) and OPS (.632). Rotowire.com Friday, 2:34 pm

    • Remaining in rotation
Scott is scheduled to start Monday's game in Pittsburgh.

Advice: After being called up from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday to make his first start for the Mets since May 30, Scott took a no-decision in a 7-5 loss to the Nationals, covering 5.2 innings while surrendering four earned runs on six hits and two walks. Despite the underwhelming results, Scott will get at least one more chance to make a case for a more permanent spot in the New York rotation. Through six outings with the Mets this season, Scott has gone 0-2 with a 4.32 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB across 33.1 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:10 am

    • Chris Paddack (arm) could rejoin Twins Monday
RHP Chris Paddack (arm) could be back with the Twins as early as Monday.

Advice: Paddack was placed on the 15-day injured list with arm fatigue retroactive to June 22nd. His time on the IL will be up on Sunday. The Twins sent down David Festa and replaced him with a bullpen arm, which could be a sign that Paddack is ready to rejoin the Twins rotation as early as Monday. Paddack is 5-3 with a 5.29 ERA in 15 starts with Minnesota this year. Rotoworld Friday, 9:58 am

    • Unimpressive in return to majors
Scott surrendered four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus Washington on Wednesday.

Advice: Scott was called up from Triple-A on Wednesday to log his first big-league start since May 30, but he didn't make much of an impression. The rookie right-hander tied a season-worst mark by allowing four runs, and he struck out a season-low two batters. It was an especially disappointing outcome for Scott after he retired 12 of the first 14 batters he faced -- six of the eight baserunners he allowed came over his final 1.2 frames, and he departed after giving up a three-run homer to Luis Garcia with two outs in the sixth. Despite the overall poor result, there's a good chance Scott will get at least another turn through the rotation with New York not having an off day until the All-Star break and with Tylor Megill recently demoted to the minors.
