  • Clears waivers, headed to Triple-A
    Henley has cleared waivers and been sent to Triple-A Sugar Land by the Astros, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Henley was designated for assignment back on Sunday, but he'll now return to Houston's Triple-A affiliate after not being claimed by another team. The 27-year-old pitcher appeared in just one game with Houston this year, giving up five earned runs in less than an inning pitched.     Matz (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

    Advice: The Cardinals had to clear up a spot on the 40-man roster for Gordon Graceffo to be called up and opted to push Matz to the 60-day IL to create the opening. Considering Matz was put on the injured list May 3, his move to the 60-day injured list won't impact his timeline for return. The 33-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks June 22.     Advice: Brentz has a 12.71 ERA and has walked 30 in 17 innings in the minors, so there was little doubt that he’d clear waivers. A promising reliever for the Royals a few years back, he’s had a really tough time making his way back from Tommy John. This is his first outright, so he can’t declare free agency.     Red Sox recalled LHP Bailey Horn from Triple-A Worcester.

    Advice: He fills the roster spot opened up with Isaiah Campbell was sent down Thursday. Horn opened this year in the White Sox organization, but after giving up 13 runs in 10 1/3 innings for Triple-A Charlotte, he was dropped from the 40-man and claimed by Boston.
