    Advice: Gil surrendered at least four runs for a third straight start, something he'd done just once in his first 13 outings, continuing an unexpected freefall after an outstanding start to 2024. He was pulled after hitting a pair of batters and allowing a two-run home run to Will Benson in the fifth inning without recording an out. While Gil still owns a 3.41 ERA and a 102:48 K:BB across 89.2 innings, fantasy managers should proceed with caution, especially with a matchup against the Red Sox on the docket for Sunday.     Evan Phillips earned his first victory of the 2024 season on Tuesday despite allowing a solo homer in the ninth inning against the Diamondbacks,

    Advice: Phillips came on to work with the score tied at four runs apiece heading to the ninth inning. He struck out Ketel Marte to start the frame but then served up a go-ahead solo homer to Joc Pederson before retiring the next to hitters. He was then the beneficiary of a vultured win after the Dodgers rallied for two runs in the home half of the ninth. On the season, the 29-year-old closer now boasts a 2.10 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 27/8 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings on the year to go along with 13 saves in 13 chances.     Phillips (1-0) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over one inning but earned the win Tuesday over the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: Phillips gave up a tie-breaking solo home run to Joc Pederson in the top of the ninth inning, but the Dodgers replied with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. The homer was just the second Phillips has allowed all year, though this was the second outing in a row he's been scored on.     Craig Kimbrel slammed the door on the Mariners on Tuesday night, retiring all three hitters that he faced in the ninth inning to preserve a two-run advantage.

    Advice: It wasn’t the smoothest of innings for Kimbrel, as he plunked Luke Raley to start the frame and also hit Jorge Polanco with one out in the inning, but he rebounded to get Dominic Canzone on a ground out to first and Julio Rodriguez on strikes to end it. Aside from a small blip early in the season, Kimbrel has been exceptional in the ninth inning for the Orioles this season.     Advice: Bellinger has started to get going after a relatively slow start to the season. He was batting .226 through the end of April, but turned that around by hitting .290 in May and .279 in June. Bellinger is now off to a solid start in July, and after a nice bounceback effort in his first season with the Cubs last year following a disappointing 2022 campaign, the 28-year-old appears primed for a strong finish to 2024.     Keller (9-5) took the loss against the Cardinals on Tuesday, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and no walks with five strikeouts over five innings.

    Advice: Keller was burned by the long ball, surrendering a two-run home run in the second inning and a grand slam in the fourth. After completing at least six frames in eight consecutive starts from May 6 to June 19, the righty has now failed to do so in his past two outings.     Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Phillies.

    Advice: Bellinger doubled in the second inning to score Nico Hoerner and give the Cubs their first run of the game. It would be the only run the Cubs would score through the first eight innings before Seiya Suzuki hit a three-run homer in a ninth-inning rally. Bellinger continues to stay hot since having his nine-game hit streak ended last week, as he’s now hit safely in three-straight games and is slashing a solid .270/.329/.421 on the season.   • Luis Gil’s struggles continue in loss
    Luis Gil allowed four runs on two hits in four innings in a loss to the Reds on Tuesday.

    Advice: The command simply wasn’t there for Gil on Tuesday, walking three and striking out three while throwing 83 pitches in just four innings. There has been some concern that Gil is hitting a bit of a wall after allowing 16 earned runs in his last 9 2/3 innings. The Yankees maintain confidence in the 26-year-old, but he left a lot of sliders up in the zone today and struggled to command his changeup, so perhaps he is getting a little tired in his breakout season.
